Labyrinth Checkpoints Please

I can already run the merciless lab in 5 minutes, shortening it would make it incredibly simple and uninteresting.

Lab is fine as it is, ggg did a great job on it. It's easy to complete and is optionnal once you ascend if you don't like it.

Yeah im not getting all the hate and wanting it nerfed/changed already within only a couple days of it existing honestly. People are simply not even giving it a fair chance at all. I guess people are so used to just point, click, and clear that they are spoiled and dont want to actually have to think or work for anything and even learn the mechanics. Its actually pretty damn fun once you start to learn how it all works. Like for instance if you dont zerg Izzy down and make him use all his mechanics he will drop more keys for the chests at the end and you can make the last fight easier as well by completing things in the lab as you go.

Im enjoying it so its whatever. Its funny to me when ive seen countless threads of people claiming the game is WAY too easy yet now people now are coming to talk about how the lab is too hard, too long, needs check points, needs to be easier, needs less traps, needs the boss easier... Its as if people dont really know what the hell they want. They want a hard game but they want things that are hard to be easier. they want nerfs to powerful things but then complain the things were made useless because of nerfs. Make up your minds good god.

Theres only one problem with your idea... The TCP Logout macro almost EVERYONE uses. (IF you use logouts) Not only because its faster but its a much lower risk of getting stuck in the game for a couple seconds while about to die and die even if you logout. And the way it works is it essentially instantly DCs you from the servers so theres no real way for them to know the difference between a real DC and a TCP logout.

Theres not really a way they could have checkpoints without it being possible to be abused. The Lab is ment to be a one shot deal by design from what GGG have said so i highly doubt they will add checkpoints or any other ways to leave and come back even on DC. However i could see them shortening the Lab a bit possibly. And they have already said they are working on fixing all DCs and instance crashes so its just gonna take some time. EVERY patch they have ever did like this the first week or so is filled with fix ups for problems.. And this is not a problem ONLY POE has this is a problem ALL games have when they have big content patches. Its the nature of the beast.

I think you've missed the point entirely Demonoz. GGG could code the checkpoint as follows:

1. The checkpoint is always located in an area where there are no monsters, such as the aspirants trial area directly before Izaro, or alternatively the checkpoint becomes available in Izaro's area after Izaro goes back down his elevator.

2. When activated the checkpoint takes you out of the labyrinth and creates a portal in Sarn which will take you back to the checkpoint. This portal disappears if you start a new labyrinth instance, disappears when you use it to re-enter the labyrinth, and does not appear in Sarn until you have used the checkpoint to exit the labyrinth.

In this scenario, the checkpoint can never be mistaken for an ALT-F4 disconnect because the portal in Sarn is only activated when the player clicks on the checkpoint to leave the Labyrinth. If you used ALT-F4 after defeating Izaro without using the checkpoint to exit the labyrinth there simply would not be any portal in Sarn to re enter the labyrinth other than the portal which takes you right back to the start. Additionally, since the checkpoint is always in a location where there are no monsters the circumstance and utility of the checkpoint would by default have nothing to do with escaping death. However, if, for instance, I had just overheard my flatmate say that they were going to start downloading and uploading some large files over our shared internet connection, I might be able to run to the checkpoint and use it to get out of the labyrinth and save my progress before my flatmate kicked off their downloading and ruined my connection to the path of exile server. See how useful that might be?

Ok i get that part BUT.. This instance you just described.. It still wouldn't help if you did DC say in the middle of the fight with the boss. Because if you DC after you hit the CP you would still lose your progress in this instance.. otherwise if you could DC after hitting the CP thats where what i was saying about the TCP logout would be able to exploit a DC to force leave and save your CP. Thats what i was saying.

I mean i see where this could help and i even said something similar about since the stash is in the instance right before Izaro why not just have a portal to go to town and such before each fight. But then GGG said the reason the stash is in there to begin with is the next Trade update coming will make it so you can trade right from your stash without leaving your map or instance.
