Please explain what we are winning by buying premium stash tabs?

Preferably by one of the posters that are complaining. As far as I know ggg always put tabs, premium tabs and character slots on sale after leagues end. What am I missing?

I'm just going to copy and paste what I put in another thread here, it covers the same stuff:

The main issue for a lot of people is that GGG has now introduced a feature that is locked behind a paywall.

Before, the only "feature" behind a paywall was color coding and renaming tabs with premium tabs. That's hardly worth getting upset over. Now, however, premium tabs are required to access the new trading feature. To many, this seems to go against GGG's original mission to create a 100% free-to-play ARPG. Yes, you can still use the old tools to post threads on the forums for indexing, but that doesn't change the fact that paying users can use a system that free users cannot.

Personally, I think that GGG has every right to do this and get money for it. They're a business, it's up to them. However, when they promote their game as 100% free-to-play and people support them for it, features like this tend to undermine that a bit.

It's less about "oh noes, I have to pay a little bit to use a feature" and more about "hey, this new feature can't really be considered free-to-play, and I'm not sure that I like that. That's not the sort of thing I supported GGG for."

I'm hoping they allow normal stash tabs to be listed as public and just not allow them to list the whole tab for one price (so you have to individually price items). This would allow everyone to access the system and would greatly benefit the people that bought only regular tabs under the impression that they were nearly identical to premium tabs in function.

Frankly, now that they've offered a sale on premium tabs it complicates the whole matter even more. If they now choose to allow regular tabs to sell things, they've just taken a bunch of money from people for no reason. If they don't allow it, they've alienated the people that bought regular tabs thinking that they were virtually the same as premium tabs. It's just a mess right now and I hope GGG addresses these concerns.
so basically people are so entitled about themselves they don't want to spend 1$ (because it's what it cost) to buy a premium stash.
We're, um, winning the ability to have somewhat easier sales to other players, if we choose to trade this way. Still selling the same stuff at the same price, they've still got to find it the same way, but it's less time-consuming for the seller.

Gamebreaker.

The ability to rename and organise your tabs has always been locked behind a pay wall, as you so pointedly put it. And anyone who think that ability doesn't create a gap between freeloaders and paying supporters has been lying to themselves.

So is it just because this more directly relates to trade that people are up in arms? This is not pay to win in any traditional f2p sense, else I'd be stronger than any of you. It's just an extension of GGG's existing approach. And they were very quick to point out there will be a free to play option, just as there is with storage itself (mule accounts, double client usage... Like anyone serious about PoE does that).

So my contention isn't whether or not this move is pay locked. My query is why get up in arms over this when premium tabs themselves have always been pay locked, have always given an advantage to trading? Now if you felt that way about premium tabs, kudos for being consistent. But if you're just now seeing how things are, if you've bought and used premium tabs without once considering them pay to win but find this change unacceptable, maybe you've been a wee bit in denial.

If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

I really don't know why GGG limits public stash tabs to just premium tabs.

It looks like non-sense development decision - why not enable this on all tabs?

Technical issue. Premium tabs are enabled for player manipulation. Standard tabs are not. It's a basic distinction.

Sooo colors and names are a huge trading advantage? What? I guess I'm lying to myself lol.

I fail to see the huge advantage that renaming and recoloring tabs gives you. If anything, it's a disadvantage because you waste time deciding which color to use and what name to give it. Many, many people get along just fine with only numbers on their tabs- it's really not that hard to remember where you put your stuff. Anyone who thinks having colors and names for their tabs is a huge advantage has been lying to themselves.

I never said anything was pay to win. I simply said that it doesn't line up with the ideal of ethical f2p, which it certainly does not. It is a new significant feature that cannot be accessed without paying. It's not pay to win, but it is pay to access. As a supporter, I don't like that and I have every right to be concerned about it.

This has been refuted so many times it's not even funny anymore. It's not about the cost, it's about the principle behind the change. In addition to that, the actual cost of buying a premium tab is no less that 5$, because that is the minimum amount of points one can buy for the shop. In some places, that can go up even more due to taxes or exchange rates or who knows what, so the real cost comes to more than 5$.

This must be relatively easy to overcome - it's just to show some dialog on those too. And most likely some database storage thing at the back-end. But nothing ground breaking in terms of development. Must be easily doable.

Only premium tabs can be renamed. GGG idea is to use name for setting prices. So you can put something like b/o 10 chaos and all items on tab gonna be listed on poe.trade at 10 chaos b/o.
