>same reward for HC and SC league challenges

Not to mention the boosting and paying through the boss fights and 'shopping' through the difficulty.

But what if you're on SC with no Deaths? Does that count as HC? :S

I play SC as if it was HC (I wanna do HC, I used to, but my friends are all on SC now >_<)

Though there are times when you wanna just do the most absurd thing ever... Like Flicker Strike CI with only 200 ES in Ledge Merciless... Good times. (Was back in Beta, and I surprisingly didn't die. o_0)
EA IGN: We_Have_Monk_at_Home

*Burnt out and waiting for either PoE1 League or new PoE2 Classes.*

playing SC with no deaths can actually be something thats more respectable than HC, depending on the playstyle. (in HC part of what helps the player survive is picking their fights, knowing what map to run and bosses to avoid and which not to run, when youre just too undergeared-when its "not worth it" etc. In SC just wait till youre 0% and go for it. if youre fighting everything and have 0 deaths, then thats very respectable.) and i have nothing against SC players AT ALL. and that's exactly the thing that's so appealing about SC, trying out some crazy build that may or may not work. some builds are incredibly fun and will NEVER be HC-viable. that's perfectly fine. there's a place for that.

but at the same time, in a challenge league a separate reward for HC players (where theres more at stake) who survive and complete all challenges...that was a very cool and appealing thing about Bloodlines/Torment, but i guess people who couldnt get them (due to whatever reason) felt it was unfair and complained. ill probably roll characters in both leagues this time. (HC is always a nice challenge.) though HC is starting to feel a bit less exciting knowing i can just roll the same build in SC Perandus and have infinite attempts at the rewards.

Playing hardcore is its own reward, as anyone else will tell you that actually plays hardcore.

What i actually want to see less of is uniques that are exclusive to one game mode or the other. I was completely hyped for the SC unarmed crit talisman for instance, but nuh uh, softcore only.

And to the other replies that try to make hardcore players seem like "lesser players" because we all use "logout macros and ranged builds". More power to you. I dont berate you for playing another game mode than i do though, i'd apreciate if you do the same.

(and really, even if you rely on logout and defensive builds, you are still going to get your ass kicked at some point, and its fun. Its why we play hardcore. Not to brag that we made it through the game in "hardmode" but because we get to die and restart)

That's how I always play up through the end of the acts (or, since act 4 came out, up through to the waypoint in crystal caverns merc... merc malachai isn't balanced to be done before maps), and i do all sidequests (and i level as the build i'm playing, i don't level with something easy then respec). If I die before i make it to that point, I delete the character and remake them (assuming i want to remake them).

Once I get to maps though, i stop doing that... i like to play around with running all mods with any build, running unid'ds, trying atziri at low-ish level (like, 75ish), that kinda stuff. Playing around like that, my number's gonna come up eventually, so i don't concern myself with being deathless at that point (although the first death is always hard to stomach)
