>same reward for HC and SC league challenges
the fact that Im not forced to play SC is enough of a reward for me
Oblivious

" 'hard mode'? Yeah man, offscreening and alt-f4ing, so hardmode. |

Its funny how some players claim to be so good at hardcore even seeing streamers pulling the log out if Im close to dieing bs. Thats the same as a damned reset button and doesnt make you better. You guys who use macroes and other such ways to get around how hardcore works make it more like using cheats to play in hardcore to get around dieing. Sorry Ive seen it happen and talked about on stream I personally have no need to use macros or stuff no designed by the game. I can make a hard core character and get to act 4 merciless without dieing too and thats without using tricks to avoid death. Just build a better character and slow down and think about what you are doing. Preparing for a boss with decoy totems and skeletons whatever as examples of ways to work it. If Im in softcore I dont like dieing any more then someone in hc would except if I dont wanna worry I can just chill and test out all kinds of crazy fun builds. Both leagues have their thing but some in hc need to stop acting all high and mighty when they use cheat techniques to avoid dieing or buying challenges etc etc.

" been there, done that, back in the league that gave the red seraph armor (what was it, torment+bloodlines?). It wasn't hard at all, even playing self-found and without using logouts... build (especially the range of said build) determines difficulty, not hc/sc |

Yes, it's finally fair and everyone is equal, and as rewards are the same, we don't need to play the league we dislike to get a reward we like more. And SC players who would want both sets aren't put in the disadvantage, because of their lack of experience in playing HC, or their low-spec PC, or laggy internet, or whatever.

" i don't use auto-logouts either (not since invasion-the one time i did; and have ripped to many d/c's and sudden internet lag as a result, so i have a certain sympathy for those that do), and youre right about the build being a large part of what determines difficulty but not everyone in HC is playing a build that can take on all bosses. (though this is sort of a part of what can determine skill in relation to difficulty as long as the player isnt copy-pasting someone elses build. the ability to design an effective original build -original in the sense that its designed by the player and not copied from a guide, even if it follows a meta.) congrats to you if you did. and also, i don't believe HC should be called "hard mode" as another poster put it, though the penalty is obviously much steeper...i mean that's why it's called "hardcore". i also enjoy SC which i don't play seriously but have fun in. high dps glass cannons can be a ton of fun and its a good forum to use to test builds/content. but at the same time, his post trivialized HC. it isn't "tougher" but dying carries with it a much greater penalty than dying in SC and kicks you out of the league (which in a challenge league means you MUST reroll to complete challenges, if you choose to accomplish them there). SC players complain about losing EXP and exalts to roll all of their maps, but losing your character and gear...and not just the exp from one level but from ALL of them isn't even arguably a steeper penalty. this in itself could be seen as a form of increased difficulty, idk, that's an entirely separate argument altogether. but for him to compare people who auto-logout to "cheating" which is something GGG in the past has said they designed the game around, and then to say that in softcore he " 'doesn't' like dying any more than someone in HC" while mostly ignoring the huge difference between the two. and then also comparing buying challenges to "cheating" when in SC you can just zergrush the bosses as long as you have portals remaining (and even if you run out, theres nothing stopping you from trying again 5 minutes later with a new map) AND ppl still buy boss kills there... come on... and i don't like cocky bragging elitists in HC either, but to trivialize it the way he did is going too far. Yeah no-life content with a meta-range 1 button aoe in zones 10-15 levels below with one finger on the macro. Very HC. :D

I played all but this last league in hard core, I never tried to get to 90 but I did manage level 85 and 84 on two characters during ds which was by far one of the hardest leagues Ive played and easy to die in. Its not about which league you play ita about what class choices you make and your skill level and experence vs certain bosses or cercumstances. Ill take the challenge and get a character to 90 in both leagues this next one of course Im gonna do sc first so I can go into hc with knowledge of the new stuff but Ill get it done. |

" "ita about what class choices you make and your skill level and experence vs certain bosses or cercumstances." that's a curious line. Last edited by awave#0377 on Mar 2, 2016, 4:45:06 PM
