Why people hates RNG?

majority players dont like RNG only when they 'lose' an RNG roll. when they 'win' an RNG roll they feel like they 'deserved' the roll.
these entitled players thus dont like pure RNG, they'd want a RNG that gives them a win even when they lose a RNG roll/have a bad streak. these players cannot accept losing to RNG, but readily can accept 'winning' by RNG. which is not surprising, because most of these players want more of everything in the game, as well as some sort of instant gratification. |

It's unreliable. That unreliability takes away the feel of risk-reward, the chance to get a valuable item are so low that it's almost the same to do a magic map than a 8 mod corrupted one, the difference in difficulty is nowhere near the difference in rewards.
If you are doing harder content you expect better rewards, PoE RNG makes sure that this doesn't happen, that is why people don't like RNG. |

You know for me rng is fine, I too love the grind but, what bothers me is seeing these super rare dagger with 249% physical damage and get told its impossible to get those now unless you get a mirror. Im sorry if something was to op for the game then remove it so its fair for everyone. Basicly getting a mirror is like winning the lottery and getting a dagger now is like trying to win the lottery without buying a ticket. Impossible and unfair.

RNG by itself isn't a problem. Layer upon layer of RNG that more often than not dictates even the basic usage of an item (getting proper color, links, and sockets, not even counting stats and type), or whether something that could be an upgrade actually isn't. Applies to a few other things in this game, but too much layering isn't that great for me in the long run.

"False, because butterfly effect. Even a single instance of RNG immediately layers all subsequent events. The only way to prevent RNG layering is not to have it at all. When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero. Since his life model decoy isn't up to the task, please do not mistake my performance as political discussion. I'm just doing what Steve would have wanted. I like the principle of rng but the fact that rng has a massive effect on outcomes for each individual player means that rng must be true and accurate, yet everything I know about random number generations (which isn't vast I confess) tells me that a true randomness algorithm is impossible; that there http://www.howtogeek.com/183051/htg-explains-how-computers-generate-random-numbers/ must be some sort of hardware initiated input (e,g. the old versions of pgp that required users to scrabble their mouse around and around to construct their keys).
According to that link pseudo-randomness isn't a problem for games yet the fact that the millions of rng calculations poe does each day are not truly random leaves me with a concern that the RNG could fall into some sort of rut or loop and players would never know - or worse - that ggg could decide to make rolling a particular item/situation harder or easier by juking the rng algorithm. I'm not suggesting that either has occurred, but the reality that it could happen because the rng isn't truly random, makes it tougher to accept a long run of bad outcomes than it would if the number was 100% guaranteed random. |

I don't know, ask homosexuals why they don't like the other sex, ask someone why they don't like the same colour you do, ask someone why they don't like the same food you do
taste is taste, what can I tell you I would never go to the casino or buy a lottery ticket, it just doesn't make sense to me all that I do in this game is endlessly start over and over again, because I think I'm trying to make something that is perfect but the game is designed so that everything has flaws, so I never get what I want, so I keep trying again After the final boss in merciless, I genuinely don't understand why I would start doing maps grind experience for what, I already killed the last boss farm items for what, it's not like I'll get what I want, I can't set a goal based on randomness I just like that everytime I start over, it's never really the same, that kind of randomness is fine My goal since the "vaal" expansion has been to kill uber atziri, despite some people doing atziri runs, it's actually an unreachable goal for me, kinda like there's smart people out there that become rich and hobos living in the streets it's like a bad joke, if I was able to really finish the game in a way that I could say "it is done" then I would have stopped playing PoE a long time ago, but because the game is endless in a sense, I always come back, come back to never see the end ha, and people think video games are fun, that they are intertainment if I wasn't hungry I would not eat if I wasn't sleepy I would not sleep if I wasn't horny I would not masturbate if I wasn't bored I would not play games there is no pleasure in anything, there is only need, only desire if things were not hard, if they did not require effort, motivation, work, I would have killed myself a long time ago but I haven't been able to defeat that survival instinct I fucking hate everything and everyone, yes including everyone on this shitty forum only needs, that can never be fulfilled, you always need more only desires that you cannot obtain, want what you can't have hitting that "submit" button, fuck the consequences |
