- the vaal orb, a fake for causal player? -

I've to say that I made a lot of my currency with Vaal-Orbs. Before the Mjölner-hype with corrupted +1 Voidbringer-gloves really started I bought tons of uncorrupted Voidbringers for max. 1 Ex and corrupted them. Got at this stage the only available Voids with elemental weakness on hit (sold it for 150, second one for 95 Ex) and +1 gems (sold it for 120 Ex) corruption.
After that I got addicted to Vaals and since then I used them a lot: Got +1 max. Res on a 6L Shavs (sold it for 240 Ex), elemental-weakness on hit Acuitys (using them - are amazing) etc ...
I bricked 3 high valuable items: 2 Acuitys and 1 legacy 80 life Lightning Coil. But in the end I made much more currency through vaaling than I lost ... but it's all rng

Just wanted to add my view on it as an actual semi-casual. Like everyone else has said, go in assuming you are going to lose the item. Vaal is vaaling as intended and your complaint is null and void. Most things I vaal brick and I move on. Assuming you will get good implicit is just a noob trap.

All you really want is to take the risk out of the vaal. You want no "sacrifice" to be possible and burn good implicit prices to the ground.

As a side note, I don't find that many 6l's to be out of the question for a weathered casual, I finally managed to obtain 3 if you include a vorici'd one. What really ticks me off is you call yourself casual when you have a mirror thread. It's old but crafting a mirrorable item in the past puts you in the nevercanbeacasualagain camp to me. Stop pretending otherwise. Again, you just want the risk taken away hoping you can sell bad vaals simply because they are still 6l and hoping good implicits still have decent prices after the fact. You just hoped considering yourself a casual player would garner sympathy and it hasn't.

(Sorry for the rage people, seeing that just really ticked me off.)

vaal orb has many uses, some are great tool for all players, some are the final possibilities of improving BiS items, for those, who swim in currency and dont mind losing items

e: I never forget the rage threads of greedy players who destroyed their BiS 6L items soon after vaal orb was introduced

I'm a casual and use Vaals.

Not on 6-links though. On Viridian Jewels, high-tier maps, some Strongboxes and low-value uniques (mostly jewellery). Haven't regretted it yet.

I`m not talking about me, I`m pretty sure I will 6L an Infernale Mantle again,
and to be honest, I`m silly enough to vaal it for the 4th time... And so on..

Feel free to be so kind not to blame ppl just because you haven`t read the full text..
Not talking about me, again, but I also don`t feel that I have to justify myself.

Let me try to define a causal player (in my opinion)
A girl/guy playing up to merc a3, getting striked down by piety several times and only able to kill dom in party. Playing 3-6 or 8 or 10 hours a week, with a tiny hope for a nice drop.
Failing and dying several times by trying to reach lvl 70, 75, 80...
A big part of the main player pool.
(something like that)

So at least there are only 2 dominating opinions added to this thread:
- don`t use vaal (on 6L) except you expect a fail
- this all would kill the current prices and would give everybody a far higher chance to obtain a (corrupted) 6L

So exactly that is what I am talking about and suggesting..
Why shouldn`t there come a change in the current price/item system?
Just, why not?

In my opinion it would have this consequences:

market

+1 would be still on top in the price list.
Corrupted 6L would be probably even no more 1 ex (as there would come a ton of em on the marketpool)
Good rare / rare legs would be still rare and prices would be stable.
Maps/Gems/currency would probably only get a little change.

game(play)

most player would get pretty fast a 6L (as it is not that hard to get currency worth 1ex)
more player would be able to play endgame areas
more player would use and play arround this new 6L and so probably we would get more new builds
those "few" (no idea about the correct numbre) players switching to call of duty would maybe stay (longer) as they would be able to go on, as it would trivialise a3-4 merc

Maybe I`m missing something about that changes at all, but I see a lot of benefits to go this way.
I understand, this change would be really like universal, by reading some of your answers I could feel like Pythagoras who sais to the redneck, the earth is not flat.. ;P
Holy shit, keep cool, this is just a discussion thread, you are not GGG and don`t have to judge if this will happen or not. Keep cool, just wanted to discuss it...

I don`t hide myself behind the system like it is right now, and I don`t argue by using the current system as the only working system..

I just wanted to discuss the possible changes if/once the vaalorb lose his destroy-ability.
In my personal opinion it would be a win/win situation.
So far I haven`t read here any real arguments that shows me, that I`m totally wrong.
Just advices how to use a vaalorb, that I`m not causal and that I`m trying to fish some sympathy.
I know how to use vaals, as I`m not a causal :) (and never said that) and I never fish (even don`t have a rod..)

So once again, please feel free to add a comment if you want to join this discussion about "what would happen, if the vaalorb lose his destroy-ability".
What would happen for the game, for the players (causals), the market.
Would it be after all a win or a lose (for the causals)?

This is hopeless. What is the point in discussing hypothetical scenarios that will never happen anyway?

GGG designed the Vaal Orb as intended. A high risk orb with a potential benefit. They DESIGN THE GAME AND THE RULES! You can play the game ACCORDING TO THOSE RULES.

I know that a huge part of the gaming community has this crazy illusion that they are THE masters in game development. They believe they can develop the game better than the developers themselves. Snap out of it!

And stop calling yourself a casual.

Do I need to comment this..?

And, Mr. Reinhart, Divine Supporter, ..., did I ever mentioned that I want to develope the game, or that I am the master of desaster..?
Why the fuck you claim things about me or my intentions and in the same time you even don`t read (or understand?) the whole text?
...

And the point of an discussion (equal if it is hypothetical or not) is in my opinion always the exchange of minds and thoughts. I have a perspective to a topic, you have got an other opinion, and someone else think in an completly other way than you or me. And we talk about it.
Thats all. Not an omnipotent intention, to force or rule the game...
Holy shit, why there are so often those brainafk comments.. Why?
...

Sir Reinhart, Divine Supporter, wish you a nice day..

The thing about your op is that you indirectly claim to be in the casual camp because you split it between "cash players" that can grab 6l off trade for days and not give a shit for ruined corrupts and casuals in a sense that anyone who manages a 6l or two was in your original post casual.

You further emphasize sympathizing with that casual group about that shit feeling in your stomach when you wreck the item ignoring the very mechanic was established early on to be a rich persons crafting or to only be used on mid tier uniques nd other stuff you don't mind bricking for an actual casual player. You have known this mechanic for a long time I am assuming but you want to make people feel bad for casuals who probably know to not craft their own shit especially vaal it if it was expensive, and by extension you.

That is where I and others get off calling you not a casual. You may not directly claim to be but you are ignoring that most casuals know not to fuck their shit up with vaals to hide behind your reasoning so that hopefully you would gain support to this economy crashing idea. And yes it would completely screw the prices on +1 corrupts and other gg corrupts whether you choose to believe it or not. When thre is literally no downside, why not corrupt? Hell just to be sure, lets make sockets, links and colors changeable after corruption with no extra expenses.
