- the vaal orb, a fake for causal player? -

Let me guess... when you played Twilight, or Twilight 2, you saved before you used the enchanter... right?

It's players like this why GGG refuses to put out a single player stand-alone.

As soon as Vaal orbs were introduced, I immediately tried this out:

Behold the very first Vaaled item level 100 ingame!

It is a thrill not knowing what to expect! Take that a way and the fun ceases.

POE 2 is designed primarily for console.
Casual players should sell their vaal orbs and buy something else. Vaal orbs are pretty much the only item sink that exists. I have bricked some really good items(rip GG legacy quantity ring) and I have had some turn out pretty well. It's a gamble and you shouldn't gamble with your best item unless you are willing to lose it.

It does suck balls when you brick a good item but it's also rewarding when you don't.

Vaal or no balls!

If you are a casual player, here's how to use Vaal Orbs.

1. Sure bet: Sell them.

2. Risky: Use them on Map strongboxes and possibly the maps that feature 3 bosses (like Museum) if you are a casual player who would like to try fighting Atziri as the corrupted maps feature corrupted bosses that have a chance of dropping Sacrifice fragments.

3. Risky: Use them on Jewelry strongboxes if you are feeling lucky - you won't be able to modify the resulting jewelry, but you might get lucky and get maximum number of modifiers on some of the corrupted jewelry.

4. Risky: Use them on Armour strongboxes for that remote chance of getting a 6 Linked item.

But for the love of all that is holy, don't try to corrupt a good item to improve it unless you are willing to risk it expecting it to fail! The chance of a successful desirable result is remote.

working as intended
Casuals should not be vaaling a 6L. Do Eyes of cheylua and 20 gems and stuff okay. Loss is almost nothing and success will give a decent boost.

Basically when gambling the old adage rings true - dont bet what you cant afford to lose and you wont have a problem with vaals, with fuses, whatever.

I actually take it further than that. I don't gamble but belts for +1 endurance or my gems. I buy everything else. Bought every 6L I own and own dozens. Bought every +1 gear like boots and gloves. I just don't enjoy gambling.

Vaal Orbs work as intended, if you don't want to brick an item (potentially) then don't use the Vaal Orb on it.

22 challenges and you crafted 3 6L ? Definitively not casual bro :)

Those 3 chest would have earn 27-30EX. With that you can buy cheap infernal mantle, and vaal it until you have the desired mods.
Then vorici 6L (need 1800 vaal orb, 1500 fuse, 300 jwl that you can easily buy with you 30EX !)
You got 3 6Ls in Talisman and you're a casual player? I haven't even 5 linked anything yet.

Next time, sell the 3 6links, buy a bunch of cheap random linked ones, vaal orb them, and if one adds the mod you were looking for use the money you got from selling your others to 6 link that one.

How do casuals get 3x 6L in a temp league? That's some srs luck... and just because you are so lucky in 6 linking doesn't mean you are going to be lucky vaaling.

And if you can't afford to lose something, don't Vaal it.

And each time you vaal something it's RNG. Just because you ripped 2 items doesn't mean the next time it will not rip let along getting the mod you want.

You can vaal 10 6Ls in a row and your 10th one will be just as likely to rip as your first.

The real hardcore PoE players and the elites sit in town and zoning in and out of their hideouts trading items. Noobs that don't know how to play PoE correctly, kill monsters for items. It's pure fact, it will never change.

Welcome to PoE.
