You seriously want to play berz, when we have shadow with free crit base + multi in same time + free crits first attack and etc... or templar with ton of defense and offer in same time... or ranger with huge ton offend node that better then berz and flask unlimited usage... or witch that can do almost everything?

Just had a look at the Chieftain abilities. Eh, should be a nice boost to a Flame Surge Bloodcaster I have going.

But for melee? There's nothing there. At all.


Yeah, that's what I mean.

This is the expansion that finally kicks the last bit of dirt into the hole.
I just discovered the melee totem thing now.

How is that intended to work?

1. Melee walks close to a group of enemies
2. Melee casts this totem which stays there for couple of seconds and is realiant on enemies walking close
3. Melee does a few weak hits (you can line out weak if it is a shadow + dagger)
4. Melee recasts the totem
5. Melee does further weak hits
------
~15 monsters killed in 10 seconds



compared to an archer:
1. run
2. pew pew pew screen dead
3. run
4. pew pew pew screen dead
-------
~50 monsters killed in 10 seconds



Let me translate this to a 6 man map rotation:
1. Melee runs close to the group of enemies while the archer has stopped already before and started to pew pew.
2. Melee casts his totem, the screen is empty at this second.
3. Melee looks where to run next, archer already ran there.
4. Melee runs behind and archer makes pew pew.
5. Melee accepts that only running and doing nothing else allows him to keep up with the run + clearspeed of the archer.

ggg balance of stuff, instead of closing the gap their newly introduced mechanics used to and going to increase it more and more.




I guess they will never understand that melee was never the problem itself - the game would have been fun at the melee pace of things. The issue is that the things it compares to are that much op that things can't get balanced around that anymore.

Exactly, I am afraid that is true. With these new ascendancy passives there will be even less a way back in terms of design than before.

Ranged gets faster, crits scale higher.


I don't even find anything useful amongst the 3 templar classes for my RT melee templar lvl 99. Guess I should stop complaining and accept the fact that playing shadow + dagger was the way to go from the beginning, stupid me.

i try to be creative but marauder subclass in general are quite weak compare to the rest.

the only good thing about chieftain is the wars herald if you are into RF spell totems, rest look crappy


sun light would have been decent for an RF build if it wasnt for the "cant be ignited"... realy remove that, an extra 4% regen wont make RF any stronger than tose assasin with huge base crit or pathfinders with perma flasks.

Alot of people are getting really butthurt without seeing the entire changes to the expansion and the fact they going to rework/change up the newer trees for a long time coming.

Like if melee was already "hated" I don't see how the new expansion changes anything for you in the totem pole lol. It can only get better.
