Orb Art

Love love love the new orb art. It'll take a while to get used to, but once we do we'll wonder at how we put up with the old bland style.

Oh come on people. You can't say that they are bad because you can't tell which is which. That is obviously something that you have to learn. It was the exact same with the old art.

I think the new art makes it easy to confuse the actual orbs from mere shards/materials. For example the alchemy orb looks more like a powder bag to me.

Yeah, god knows there are so many powder bags to confuse them with in the game.

I like the new art, I had some difficulties telling the old ones apart at times.

No it wasn't the same with the old art. With the old art they were colored different. It's a lot easier to associate colors to names than to memorize the difference between a whole bunch of nameless blob shapes.

So it's easier to differentiate based on color alone, than to differentiate color + shape?

How about the new art, but distinctly different coloration? Win/win?
Honestly the only thing I don't like now is how their called orbs but they clearly are not orbs. I just don't understand.

But it's not very important to gameplay :)

First things what players will notice are animations/movement and color. So as long as your icons are not animated, color is second best thing to make a distinctive look between these small icons. And I think it's important.

There is just many orbs already and especially for newer players it will be pretty annoying to mouse-over above every icon just to find orb he want to use/try. So yes.. keep art and add SATURATED colors.. Again..grayish-green or grayish-blue is sometimes very similar for many people.

Saturated red, blue, orange, green, yellow, pink or even shiny silver/gold are all good colors and wont hurt your art direction at all :)

Yes ! It's weird, especially for transmutation and alchemy, they look like seashells or shellfishes xD
"transmutation shell" sounds good :)
