Orb Art
So, I'll just throw this out there. I loathe the new art for the orbs. I liked the previous artwork because it divided the use of my stash orbs by a very clear delimiter: color. I could just glance at my stash and quickly pick out what orbs do which function. Now, all the orbs have the same general color scheme (varying between blue and brown) and it gets very confusing. Shape is not as good a delimiter, especially these inkblot messes we've got now (most of which aren't even CLOSE to orb-like). Not to say I'm not sympathetic to color-blind players, accommodations should be made for them, but I think making all the orbs the same colors make them harder to identify when sitting in the stash.

I took them to be some sort of stones or mineral nodes infused with mana-based energy, being the blue stuff. I also think the Alchemy Orb is a Balrog sperm.

The most annoying things is getting used to all of them all over again.
These changes are nice but I hope this is a once in a life time thing. |

" LOL IRL. Still laughing after a good 30seconds. But I do agree with the notion that the new art makes it feel a bit out of place. The old art was fine and I don't think the new stuff was needed. Now people have to focus on remembering what so and so looks like. And as of the past couple days, I still don't remember what the new Orb of Transmutation looks like - I keep scrounging through my inventory and Stash looking for it even though it's there sitting right next to my Transmutation Shards ugh. |

Orb of alteration and orb of tranmutation, both bluish shapeless blobs.
Most of the others seem to be some shade of grayish blobs. Isn't it possible to have them distinguishable by both shape AND color? The only one that's really easy to pick out is the chromatic orb, and I guess chaos isn't bad either. Really really really dislike the new art. Change for the sake of change is all this is.
The amount of orbs were getting a bit to much yes, but breaking off the 3 different sockets orbs and calling it cubes or w/e would have been a far better solution then this. I guess its to much to hope for them to change it back :( Chars : Brooke, TheSlowOne, ZapBranigan, RaWR, RaWRmao, RaWRville

" Hopefully a once in a lifetime deal, cant take another one anymore. Text change is OK but art is a whole new deal. " I hear your call on the orb colouring, i also used to divide em by colour. The way they are right now takes again time to get used on their appearance. On the first glance, it seemed "wow a great new look" and 5secs later "meh, how i suppose to recognize which is which now?" Okay the old orbs were simple and that way maybe too modest, but now its just up to players to get to know em again. PainHammer (templar) - 18 LEGACY

I actually like the art for a lot of the items. However they don't all look like orbs anymore. Chromatic is more of a brick than anything.

I think the new art makes it easy to confuse the actual orbs from mere shards/materials. For example the alchemy orb looks more like a powder bag to me.

Agreeing that the orb art looks pretty odd. For me, it doesn't quite have the same flavor as the rest of the game (these, along with the Shadow Fragments in the pyramid--it feels like someone else did them entirely), and the icons being as small as they are in the inventory, they end up slightly looking like some collection of bodily fluids. They're no longer as visually clear or visually cohesive as I thought the old look was, and I think a few could use some revision as the rest of the game looks really great.
The few that I'd single out are the Alteration, Transmutation, Chance, and Chromatic...Alchemy could use a little more definition as the stack number is getting mixed up in the icon. Apples are delicious.
