The Winter Mystery Box - Including New and Exclusive Microtransactions!
" I didn't.. I was playing with another person's nicely aligned numbers. I have the self-control not to gamble past a sensible "fun limit" and don't feel a compulsion to have things, first or otherwise. |

This is what GGG is best at doing which is RNG. GGG is all things RNG gambling (crap shoot) only this is gambling with real money. But this isn't new either as we RNG gamble every time we buy a stash tab bundle. Will I get a read-only tab converted that has only a few items in it or one that is almost full that I was saving in long term storage. Before the "read-only is supposed to be short term only" crowd spams me I'll repost what Chris said:
Chris stated: "We recently made a change where the contents of a remove-only tab are automatically moved into a new stash tab as one is purchased. This was primarily to fix a technical problem, but happens to also help users who purchase a lot of stash tabs when challenge leagues end and don't want to have to move the items across one at a time." Christ stated in an email reply: "Thanks for the mail! The core problem here is how our stash code works. There's no way to choose which tab is upgraded, which causes a problem in some circumstances where users can receive an unlimited number of stash tabs (without having to do any races). The change to how the stash tab purchases work (where it increases your entitlement of real tabs, rather than forcibly generating a real one each time) was to fix that. We're not really concerned with people using remove-only tabs as long-term storage like they have been doing. I'm not completely happy with the solution and want to find a better one. Kind regards, Chris" This information is from 2013 so over 2 years and RNG gambling when we buy more stash space is the norm so RNG gambling is what GGG does best. Just say no and don't buy if you don't like this. Not the best way to handle RNG frustration but it works for me (sorry GGG but you know and choose to ignore). Happy holidays. "You've got to grind, grind, grind at that grindstone..." Necessity may be the mother of invention, but poor QoP in PoE is the father of frustration. 13 Boxes 7 Times Northern Light Effect. Is it possible to have more bad luck? (Maybe 13 times this useless effect...)
ooops...and it's a ranger again

I don't mind spending the points on the boxes, and enjoy the RNG stuff usually. I would like for the consumable effects (fireworks, aurora, etc) to stack, though. :D
I don't care about the armor effects, usually, but love the hideout effects/decoratios/etc :) |

This event is very interesting, mainly because this is gambling and it is a gamble where the odds are unknown and many of the participants are children or young adults. While this may not actually step over the line to illegal, it is definitely immoral.
GGG, Allowing people to believe that these "exclusive" prizes are reasonably obtainable, asking them to enter into an unknown gamble, and then stacking the odds against them, is not a morally justifiable action. Please help your "supporters" be responsible and provide information and odds when asking them to gamble "points" purchased with real money. If you plan on buying these winter boxes, please be responsible and set a budget. |

" While i like your logic a lot and i find what you propose moral, unfortunately this cannot apply to this company who earns their "living" from this exact strategy. It's the same feeling i get about the church, doing bussiness and hiding behind the innocent face of charities and communication with the public. As long as people fall for this strategy of boxes, they have no reason to change it. It's a capitalistic world we live in. They can always buff incinerate if there are many reactions and all will be good. Last edited by PsOfOs#5592 on Dec 18, 2015, 1:04:44 PM

So tired of this "exclusive microtransactions". Now i would be fine with 4 or 5 crystal, maybe next year ill want more and in 2 years more again. You expect me to buy a hundred now? lol?
Last Halloween was a wakeup call, only 2 item offered, nothing of value offered(just my opinion), no old item coming back either(ALL OF WHICH I OWN AND SOME MULTIPLE TIMES but would have liked to have more). Im supposed to buy a hundred Ice Crystal or a hundred Pumpkins upfront now in case i ever want to do something nice with them or have more than 1 hideout? No. It's worse now because you don't even chose what you buy so that's a double no. What kind of business modeling is that? The exclusivity need to be limited, i can't imagine a single reason why you would rather have people buy a small limited amount of microtransaction rather than sell them all year long or at least seasonally. |
