Why does GGG hate auction houses?
" I disagree. Ice-cream beats cake and pie anyday. |

My two teammates convinced me to trade in in Talisman instead of going my old self-found route. I installed Acquisition, set it up in 5 minutes and already sold a couple of item I had no use for. All I do is literally drag the items in the properly marked stash tab (1c, 2c, custom price) and Acquisition scans them, posts them on poe.trade and makes sure I am displayed as online as long as I'm logged in.
We already have an auction house. It's 3rd party but it basically does everything except the actual exchange of item/orbs for you. Get Acquisition, try it for yourself. As far as I'm concerned nobody can claim an auction house would ruin PoE because it existed for some time now and the sky has not fallen. Sorry for the advertisement but I just think everybody should know about it and use it. Also thank you XYZ, amazing work! PoE needs better social features... and more cats!

I'm pretty fucking sick of this "we don't need an Auction House" Bullshit...
First of fucking all, The Auction House is a brilliant fucking idea, we need it, GGG wont listen because they think they're always right, get over it Second of all, the only reason D3 failed like fuck was because RMT, fuck that shit, we dont need that fucking shit in this game when the economy is already a piece of shit Third of all, Read the fucking other 2 Twitch: twitch.tv/slayertip

I personally think that an auction house would be nice, but it doesn't even have to be that extreme. An automated system that allowed items to be bought and sold at the "buy it now" price without character interaction would be wonderful. This would eliminate hassle associated with players being offline, busy in a map, or afk.
Unfortunately, this type of system would also decrease player interaction. Trade interactions are usually quick and impersonal, but I have actually met great friends in poe through trading (most actually). I also enjoy checking out other peoples hideouts, and having people see mine. Of course, less and less people seem to be decorating these days, so that's not such a big deal. But, all in all, and automated trade system would be an improvement in my opinion. |

" Um, let me try this: I'm pretty fucking sick of this "we need an Auction House" bullshit... (well, this is not actually what I think, but just it will do fine for a example) Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck. FUCK FUCK FUCK!@!! FUCK!!! Am I doing it right? Sorry about that, I hope you don't get offended, but honestly, when you write like this, it is very hard for anyone to take you seriously. You don't sound like someone who has done any research, who knows both sides of the argument, or actually care about the other side of the argument. Or anything at all, for that matter. Let me say this again, so everyone can finally get over it: WE ALL WANT AH. What you do not understand, is that there is more to it than "I WANT". I'd love an AH in PoE. But when you think about it, there are CONSEQUENCES of having it, and when you think even more about it, some of them are REALLY BAD FOR THE PLAYERS. I won't list all of the stuff that has been talked about, but overall it is not as simple as "LEETS DOO AH, LOL". And no, none of the reasons is "Cuz D3 had it". And when you get rid of your selfish attitude, you realize that GGG is WELL AWARE OF THESE THINGS. They are trying to figure out the way to remake it (at least I hope they do). If it were that simple, I guess we'd already have AH, or anything else. All I ask you is to stop being a loud redneck, which knows everything, and feels need to offend people in the process, for no good reason. If you want to give your ideas, do so, but do it in educated way, so we maybe get some new ideas, and even maybe you'll solve that problem. (If you want to, tho, you'll need to do some research and reading about the topic) Real knowledge is to know the extent of one's ignorance.
Ignorance more frequently begets confidence than does knowledge. | |
" Fresh economy ? you mean economy where exalt : chaos ratio is quickly above 70:1 ? " There are, but that's not an evidence of a crap economy at all, looks more like a statement from a jealous guy, nothing more. About Auction House, that's simple, GGG want interaction between players, even at minimal level, and don't want to see market manipulated heavily by hundred of bots buy/selling same shit to make profit. It doesn't even need to be automated.
People seem to be unrealistically terrified of the bottom dropping out of the economy should any sort of trade system that isn't a horrible nightmare be implemented "because the auction house Ruined Diablo 3!" No, Blizzard's inevitable-but-idiotic attempt at an RMT auction house Ruined Diablo 3. There are dozens of other games that implement auction houses just fine; Guild Wars 2 has even pulled the RMT currency into the in-game economy in a manner which has not yet upset the applecart and had the game spiraling into inflation death. This CAN be done in ways that alleviate people's issues. Pretty much all you need to do is implement an in-game poe.trade, with selling tools that actually make sense, with an in-game mail system to alert sellers. Don't have it store items so people can buyout for free or any of that idiocy; clearly nobody is willing to trade items if they're not allowed to try and rip people off face-to-face, so g'head and do that. But all this bullhonky about how a lack of in-game trade tools 'preserves the value of items and means the economy actually works!' is just that - horseshit. The economy only works, in that particular instance, because nine out of ten players don't participate in it. You're all being horribly exclusionist and defending it by saying "if everybody could trade, nothing would be worth anything!" That may be the case in Standard, but none of you people play Standard anyways, eh? Why not? Heh...because every time I turn around I see people complaining that the economy in Standard is borked beyond recovery and already unplayably bad. So why do you even care if people can actually participate in it, eh? She/Her

Whispered 10 people for trades the other day.
10/10 were either: Offline. Playing Talisman and won't switch to standard to sell. Gave up and logged after 10 in a row. Trade system is fine though. Last edited by PritzlPoppers#2961 on Dec 14, 2015, 10:44:45 AM

An in-game alternative to poe.trade is my most-wanted feature. Ideally, I think it would resemble Runescape's Grand Exchange.
