Make challenges actual challenges

one good example for this is rise of the phoenix.

i want to use righteous fire and need the fire res. found 2 saffell's this league but the 4% fire res is not quite enough. so i looked up the phoenix on poe.trade. even a good roll is less than a chaos now. so i thought i may as well farm the card.

i couldnt get one to drop so i looked it up on poe.trade again and i quickly dismissed the idea of buying the set.
ONE card is going for around 20c and you need 7 cards for the item.
so if i buy the cards they cost like 2 ex for an item worth less than 1c.

This is soooo retarded i have no words.

earlier this league ppl said humility (tabula) is easy to farm.
so i tried to farm it. with 2 chars and a total of 15 levels or so.
only got 4/9 ... well at least that fits into that that i only found 1 tabula rasa since CB (the original one) and that was when i joined someelses instance where it dropped for me.

Yes the sun is still treated as a rare unique, while it is pretty common and almost no build uses it anymore.

The card has a really low droprate. And it isn't the only one suffering from this. Chaotic disposition, the 5 chaos one, there are 0 up of those in poe.trade. A card that gives 5 chaos is legit rarer than Shavronne's wrappings, kaom's heart, mjolner etc. It can't be that people are just turning the card in instantly since almost everyone knows the retarded prices in WB / Tempest for div cards.

There is no challenge at all in this challenge, except that you must trade them. But divination cards are more rare than tier 1 uniques in terms of drops. Because if you need 5 or 8 of those to pull it together and there are like 70 cards up on poe.trade, well that are only if you need 7 cards for the item, 10 of the item in total in divination cards. It is just stupid, the divination cards give no incentive to farm for them. When the droprates were actually leaked in closed beta GGG quickly removed them since people 'didn't understand how to read them'. I don't know about that, the droprates are in fact extremely bad for divination cards to the point this is the worst currency and trading challenge ever. Because you likely need to complete over 160 or so trades and lose a lot of currency in the proces to obtain this one.

Considering that when I try to buy a sun for example I whisper 20 guys on poe.trade about it (I started just spamming everyone who had one up) and only 3 even bothered replying of which 2 were selling them at 40 chaos each. Seriously I'm not going to dump 40 chaos into a card that gives something worth only 1-2.
To complete the challenges, it's like:

10% is done by playing the game
90% is done by playing path of trading

lel

Even by playing 24 hours a day and having an OP level 100 char you wouldn't be able to complete them without poe.trading non-stop

So yeah it's easier to complete the challenges by being a flipper than by playing the game itself
I liked challenges that were in 1-month league where you got MTX armor as a reward. Those challenges were well designed and achievable by playing the game if you could dedicate enough time to the game. I completed softcore version of the challenge 100% solo and self-found and I felt a bit of pride in doing so.

Warband/Tempest league challenges, at least 4 out of 8, are so ridiculously designed it has completely demotivated me to even try. I will eventually get 2 maybe even 3 done but I just dont bother with those that simply force you to trade for cards, map clears or bosses. I greatly disliked selling Warbands general in /global 710. Some people had balls to call it tipping but they required paymant upfront--it just speaks about the community and how bad it can be twisted by poorly designed challenges.

My hopes are that next one-month challenge league will follow in steps of previous one-month league, which had challenging yet achievable challenges by playing the game if a person was dedicated enough.
I would really like to see a manifesto for the challenges. No matter how often we complain about these "trading challenges" they stay like that every time.

I hate it. :(

If challenges were a grind, they'd actually be good. Problem is you don't have to grind at all, you can just buy them all.

It is absolutely ridiculous and it scares away a lot of people from even bothering to try these challenges. The divination card one is even more ridiculous than the previous league one and the one before that. You don't only need the divination cards you also need the uniques for knowledge and power of which you need at least 1 of the tier 1 items (rings or the expensive head one in tempest).

I wouldn't mind challenges if they were actually challenges as I mentioned. It would be a good thing if players could grind them, for example a challenge that wants you to do the regal recipe 100x or something similar along those lines.

The Unique bosses ones are always fine as well, this league level 82 maps are extremely expensive though and the maps itself cost like 5 ex for all bosses but you at least get some return of investment on that. You don't get a return of investment on buying 7x the sun @ 20 chaos each. Or the incantation for 30 chaos each.

I really dislike the divination card challenge, the cards you have to get are for many Tier 2 and Tier 1 uniques, and have actually lower droprates (the cards) than the Tier 2 and Tier 1 uniques as witnessed by the amount of offers of the uniques vs the amount of cards. I don't really know what the devs wanted to achieve by adding these cards to the game, maybe some alternate currency that you sometimes get but never complete, even if you farm the place they drop for them? I don't know it is just ridiculous.

I hope the developers take a different approach to this because in its current state only extreme traders and RMT'rs complete it. Even if you get a 96+ character you will likely lack currency to go 8/8 unless you got multiple good Tier 1 drops that you could sell for a lot of exalts.
If you can't simply buy the 'challenges' there's no place for them in this game.

Shopping game. Why would you expect the 'challenges' to not be shopping 'challenges'?
Casually casual.

So there are 8 challenges and one of em is trade cards.
Learned it in this thread.

Dont know for the other 7 and probably will never find out.

that is based on the fact that trading is basically risk free.

if every trading action would include the risk to randomly have to fight exiles in an arena or scenario (your trade got disturbed by a bandit attack!!) where you either win the challenge or lose your trading window content, things would be different. and more interesting.
age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill!
