Infinite Bazaar: Immersive, Personal, Automated Trading
" Did i just witness someone mentioning ICQ in 2015? Dat nostalgia is real, man. |

I think you might be on to something with the Bazaar concept. I recall reading somewhere that Chris liked the idea having to browse through wares like at a market hoping to find something great.
There is always going to be a conflict between immersion and convenience. If a trade system implemented is worse for finding what you want than poe.trade then it is a waste of developer time as it will go unused. Tin foil hats are a lie propagated by the aluminium industry.

a bazar would enable ggg to occasionally throw one or two rough exiles in them to clean the instance from bots polling the shops.
age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill!

I like how trading is now. I don't like online games where every other real plaers can be just a NPC. I don't play poe to feel like playing singleplayer game.

" " Sorry, let me stop you right there. HOW exactly do people find items on the forums? You see, GGG lacks something called search functionality. Something the entire community has been wanting for trading. The ability to search for any mod, multiple mods, and ranges between mods. Unless they do this, sadly, your entire proposal means nothing. Don't get me wrong here, I like the proposal of using some NPC to automatically sell items. It's like having a local market hub for each individual player. The problem I have is that because GGG lacks ANY sort of search functionality, it makes trading without xyz or third party tools a complete waste of time. This needs to change whether GGG admits it or not. "The absence of evidence is not the evidence of absence." Last edited by Hixxie#2252 on Sep 1, 2015, 7:46:53 AM

That's not really a problem with my proposal though, and can be fixed separately. Personally I'm fine with using third-party tools for finding trades.

" Simple solution for that, tie it in directly with stash tab purchases. |

You could still require that traders be required to be online at the time of the trade, allowing the seller to stay in the current map or fight and to recieve barter request like poe.trade does now. Also this would prevent rmt sites creating a hundred offline accounts for trading . One player, one account.
You could still communicate with your seller/buyer but I could invest in a difficult map without the hassle of running back to hideout just to hit an accept button or tabbing out to double check my asking buyout. Keeping a little complexity in the trade scheme keeps the value at medioce items healthy. Once everyone trades, values will go way down leaving only top items that still hold value which will be controlled by rmt most likely. That happened to D3 during AH it took a week to get good gear, but you would never see great gear unless you went rmah. |
