Griefing

The
Quest Text States That You Will Have To Fight Other Players Who Choose The Opposite TL/DR: didn't take the time to read the quest text, blames game for own lazyness |
|
" So you say its good if you (not just die, but even worse) can be ganked when you do not read it, where in the whole game this is the FIRST AND ONLY occasion of this?! Seriously?! If it would be common that you die if you dont read = thats ok. If its a one time thing, with "lots of surprise factor" = trap, made for lazy griefers. |

The UI interface for this quest is unique to this quest alone, I would think that when you see something different from anything else you have encountered in the game then yes, you deserve to die. Lazyness /= unfair by any means. This is a huge problem with games today, they cater to people who want to cut corners and rush through with no problems. It is refrshing to have a game that does not hold the players hand, and while I have not used this mechanic I do like the fact that it is there. Any time I group for a bandit quest I drop a portal and stand next to it, so I can gtfo if someone chooses differently than what they stated durring group formation.

When I saw this feature first time, I was like: "Omg! This is so 90s." This kind of stuff is not done anymore.
I love it! :P Please, make more of these! Last edited by Templarion#1529 on Feb 15, 2013, 9:49:07 AM

" I respectfully disagree. There are many so-called features built into this game PRECISELY for griefing other players. In one thread, Chris even refers to 'screwing over' other players. In a very grind heavy game the death penalty equates to...more grinding.

I could understand this in default, but in HC and after you create a party called KILLING KRAITYN then it's just a jerk move. Seriously though. I'm literally sick to my stomach from this just happening.

This goes with the lore, a lot of us were exiled for being criminals, murderers. Would you trust these people with your life? This is a harsh world. Anyone can betray you for there own desire. Accept it, and be prepared to fight to the death if need be.

" Everytime I see this argument: If the game is going for such a "cut-throat" approach, then why not give the players the ability to kill off their party at ANY time? Why can't I loot their corpses? Where is the line drawn. I have the feeling this quest was NOT meant to be cut-throat & instead should allow the player(s) to get a confirmation notice via "Y/N" & a message displaying "One or more players have chosen to help Oak, do you wish to lock in your answer?" or something along those lines would be fine. If this type of behavior was INTENDED, then by all means... let's go ahead and just make it as cut-throat as possible. Fuck this shit. Let's just kill each other whenever. It's not like I need a quest state to dictate whether or not I want to kill my party members. Not to mention my loyalty with Oak apparently ends once I leave because I can't kill the party members any longer that chose differently. Regardless of what their intentions may be with the quest, this is what I would call a design flaw and could be easily fixed. You need to communicate with the players to make sure they understand what is about to happen. I don't believe a simple textbox stating that 5 douchebags may very well attempt to gank you. Now, whether they fix this minor issue or not is up to GGG, but I still would consider it a miscommunication in game design with the player. One more thing: If the intended outcome of the bandits was meant to be cut-throat, then surely GGG should've kept the player's decision hidden from others. Then you would NEVER know what is about to happen. Would you end up having to kill your party members, or do they all wish to kill Oak with you?
