How are People Finding Extreme Amounts of Currency?
exalts are too rare in my opinion. That said Ive had days where Ive found 3 and 3 week periods where Ive found 0. Its really random.
PoE does have millions people sign up every year though. Sure, free to play, millions play the game for a few hours and then uninstall cause its not for them. The player base that signs in every week or two at least and has a grind, takes part, thats still 100,000s of players though. At the very start of leagues or expansions 100k, 200k players can be online at the same time. Thats not counting dude A signs on for an hour, logs off, 5 mins later dude B signs on for 3 hours, logs off, 5 mins later dude C logs on... thats just player count online at exactly the same time. Dont be fooled by things like steam charts that show say 35k people online at the same time as a historic peak and 14k people online at the same time in the last 24 hours and think that means the games player base is 14k people. Steam shows peak of 35k, most people dont play through steam, actual historical peak I believe is over 200k and thats just online at the same time. So steam is showing maybe 1/6 of the player base and not how many are active but actively in game at a given moment, if it says 14k in the last 24 hours the actual total is more like 80k+ and that means if you look at how many individuals played in the last 24 not just how many were on at the same moment you are back into 100,000s of people, daily. Then you look at the same exalts changing hands many, many, many times per day... A dude bought a belt off me in warbands earlier, I then sold that exalt to a guy in a trade party for divines within about 3 minutes, hes probably in a trade party because he needs exalts for an item he wants to buy right away. He might have moved that exalt on and got his item within 3 minutes of our trade too, how long will that exalt have stayed in that dudes hands? Maybe he wants chaos for maps and sold the exalt right away to another dude who was looking to buy an item and needed that ex... in the space of an hour it could have changed hands 10 times or more and kept that rate of movement up literally for days or even months, its a possibility. Or maybe the dude I traded it to yolo exalted a jewel right there and then, killing the exalt. When ur dealing with 100,000s of players though all possibilities are probably happening constantly. A player called gomie posted a video over 2 years ago of his stash, he had 3 stash tabs of exalts, the entire tabs filled with full stacks. That was 2 years ago when the game had been in open beta for about 6 months with a smaller player base than we have had since. " Im not saying the game doesnt starve you, it absolutely does and Im very vocal on these forums about exalt drop rates being way too low. I hate the drop rate, its literally about 3x lowe than it should be imo. But you know, anything thats worth buying/selling is worth something significant, I wont even sell an item in standard for less than about 3 chaos, I dont deem it worth my time as I could probably find a chaos worth of currency in the time it takes to make a trade. Trade is always going to be faster for making orbs, if it wasnt then no one would trade, and prices in trade will always be based around the wealth of people who trade, I mean thats a given right? If you are selling something, the guy you are selling it to trades, of that you can be certain. Its not that I dont share your feelings about these matters, I think we could agree on a great many moral principals and ideals, just not the price of that ring I guess. I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)

So, today was the first day in 3 years of playing Path of Exile almost every day that i had my first Exalted orb drop in Dried Lake.
I just don't see how people are finding exalted orbs left and right or i'm just one unlucky person. -Blood |

" @ AllSunsDawn I'm not complaining i was simply stating how unlucky i am. I have used everyone's very useful information (including yours) to further my gaming on POE. I just like to see what people think on the matter of currency. Don't reply to the post if you do not like what you see. This is simply a friendly conversation, okay thanks bye. -Blood |

" Don't be too upset. Aside from rmt, the rich have almost one thing in common: they found a loophole in the economy at some point. It's not something the average player can know or do.. because if he knew or were able to do it, it would no longer fetch huge currencies. As others have mentioned, there's also flipping, though that whole "WTB alts 15:1" -> "WTS alts 14:1" is a joke. That is such trivial flipping it's not even worth it. The best kind of flipping is when you flip very rare and valuable items, or buying items that people vastly underpriced and reselling for exalts. Also I think I saw someone mention IIQ forcing more currency drops - this is not true for IIQ from gear. edit: o yea, and those 72 mirrors were photoshopped. a league thats only 2 months in does not have that many mirrors let alone on a single account Last edited by jebroni#0936 on Aug 22, 2015, 12:38:38 PM
