How are People Finding Extreme Amounts of Currency?
Dont try crafting lol. I was elated after I crafted a 350 dps Harbinger with crit chance after using only 1 exalt worth of currency. I sold it for 25 exalt and figured this would be a great way to make money. Immeditely I bought another lvl 77 Harb and started over. I blew through my entire supply of exalts and never even came close to crafting something similar.

The fact that you believe you need mirror quality items to play the game is a bit absurd. From my experiences, you can play really good builds in this game on a budget of 1 exalt. Now level 90+ is a different story, but up to level 89 you don't really need that good of gear.

@SleepThieff I don't believe you need mirror items to play the game.
I feel like playing hardcore/tempest leagues is a great way to help new players in standard learn about how to make currency efficiently as many of you have said in the latter posts. Although, the chaos recipe and farming for alts/Div cards is going to be more efficient than farming a boss just for unique items. I've seen a lot of people running these easy bosses and not picking up any yellows (except jewls and or jewlery ect..) to sell for alts. Believe it or not they add up so fast. @AllSunsDawn I liked what you had to say for sure and i agree with you about a lot of the things you mentioned. Although i hope you don't believe that guy with 72 mirrors in one month got those by legit trading and these guys ARE exactly what i'm talking about. How the hell did he get 72 mirrors. |

" oh ya, big time, millions of signed up accounts, 100,000s of 'regular' players going at it non stop for 2.5 years, all roads lead to standard, bots of course are in the fray as they are with all grinding games, for sure long enough. " forget trade chat, this is what trade chat is for... /trade 1 wtt my chaos 40:1 your exalts /trade 2 wtt my chaos 40:1 your exalts /trade 3 wtt my chaos 40:1 your exalts /trade 4 wtt my chaos 40:1 your exalts /trade 5 wtt my chaos 40:1 your exalts /trade 6 wtt my chaos 40:1 your exalts then you go about your day, thats all its for. Download acquisition or procurement, use them to set up an easy to maintain shop setup on the forums, keep yourself tagged online with acquisition or the poe.xyz control panel, bump your shop thread every hour and just farm like a madman. The trades come to you, very rarely are you spamming items in trade chat thats like desperation tactics, I need to make 40ex in the next 3 hours to buy this item and Im gonna spam my 3 big ticket 6 link/legacy pieces just on the off chance it makes a difference. Forget trade chat, thats a currency exchange tool and somewhere for people with 2 logged in accounts to occasionally mass spam a ton of high end gear with their trade account on their second pc or whatever, thats not where regular joe does his day by day selling. Forget the guys with mirrors coming out of their ears and 5 figure exalt troves too, youre never going to be on that level, youll never need to be on that level. My wealth doesnt even register on their scales, its as good as nothing by comparison and I can build virtually anything I want in standard league. Theyre like bill gates, you dont need to be bill gates, you just need to be a grub on his shoe that has a few million in the bank and can live the life. Thats what youre aiming for and you can absolutely get there by just maintaining a shop, playing the game for a long time, thats all it takes. I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)

" Because you don't mind ripping people off. Don't even try to argue that 5-10 ex for a ring such as that is not a rip off when you compare drop odds of 'decent' rares vs exalt orbs. The only way you would not see that as a rip off is if you trade. Lots. As in, without trading you wouldn't even have 5-10 exalts. For example, I've seen a couple of rings today with the same or even better rolls listed for 5 chaos. They aren't exactly rare/'godlike'. I didn't pick them up, because I didn't need them & because it's their actual price. But since people realise how trade dependant this game is, they buy them and relist them for say, 3 ex. They do that until the cheapest ring with similiar stats = 2+ ex. Suddenly the item has value, which causes most people to follow said fake price and leads to them also listing it for ~3 ex. That right there is the difference between actual price and 'what you can get for it'. The latter requires you to shove all morals aside for your own benefit. Here's the deal. Trading has been mentioned as a source of income but it is in fact the only way if you want to get rich fast. It's quite amusing how many people are under the impression that the rich players gained their wealth by actually playing the game. They only play the game while they are either trying to 6L an item with an infinite amount of fusings, trying to craft a godly item using a bunch of exalts just for fun (because they can), or doing a quick faceroll through a map. All of this, while they wait for their items to sell !!!which they obtained by buying them from another player, for a much lower price than their sell price!!!. This can be done as soon as you obtain a decent amount of currency by actually playing the game, say 60 chaos and an exalt or 2. Waaaay more people than just the richest players do this. If you thought D3 was bad in this sense back in the day when people were calling it AH Tycoon 3, it's even worse here. Except the trade system is a lot more clunkier. Which is done on purpose. And by trading I mean ripping people off. Buy those epic *cough* rares from unknowing, new, or honest players and sell them for your own personal gain. As a bonus, you get to sell a tiny amount of your own drops aswell which are decent enough to receive a rip off price tag. And that concludes the lesson of how to get rich on PoE. Enjoy. " Here's the "guide": https://www.reddit.com/r/pathofexile/comments/3hht78/so_this_is_how_we_managed_to_accumulate_72_mirrors/ Basically you need a bunch of level 8 masters and then you need a bunch of ex to craft the mods and then you sell the bows/staffs at a huge profit. Rinse and repeat. I believe those guys are the biggest reason why exalts are so fucking expensive on Warbands.. GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

" That's a really salty post. In the end it's about supply and demand. If people want to pay 10 ex for that ring, he's not ripping off anybody. GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

Xav, I've just edited my post. You'd do well to read the 2nd bit. Especially understand the part that rings like that are available for a much cheaper price before they get picked up and relisted by either the already rich or soon to be rich players. You won't see them listed for very long though because of people 'playing' poe.trade more than the actual game.
The problem is that the gap between actual price and rip off price is way too big, mainly because the trade system is so clunky. I should really say partly but I must admit that the system is made intentionally clunky yet only adding to the problem does annoy me quite a bit. It leads to a situation where it is much more profitable to 'play' this game in an AH tycoon sort of way if you know what's up. Not trying to sound salty though I understand if it sounds that way, this is just the way it is and will be until either trading is removed or when a proper trade system is introduced to the game which will shrink the margins. " well hes streaming what hes doing right? I cant even comprehend how hes managed that but Im open to the idea its legit. The thing is wealth breeds wealth, how do you have people in their 40s who are multi billionaires irl? After a while the fact they are so rich snowballs, it seems absurd, if being a millionaire by 40 is so hard and seems impossible how do you get that far beyond? Well, you get 5x that much and doors that were closed open, and that lets you get 10x as much, and that opens doors to ways of making more money per day than normal people are making in a decade. In standard right now Im selling items 10 chaos here, 20 chaos there. I spend chaos like crazy on maps, sometimes Ill get bored and spam 100 chaos on an item just out of sheer careless boredom, I have an entire stash tab of chaos I never even dip in to, it just sits there. Meanwhile some other guy has mirror service items listed and hes getting 100 exalt mirror fees, thats 4000 chaos per transaction, meanwhile I just sold a pair of gloves for 10. At what rate is he now making money compared to me? So Im spamming 100 chaos on something, hes spamming 1000ex, and what he gets is mirror worthy, and now hes making 4k chaos transactions on that piece over and over without ever actually selling that item, its just a cash cow that will fund another cash cow... and now he has 30 cash cows and Im still running around picking peanuts out of poo and selling them for 10c a pop. Even at 10c a pop people are looking at what I have over a period of time and saying well how the f do you have mirrored items? Im selling stuff at 1c a pop and I cant even see a way to afford a 10 exalt item, you blatantly rmt. Well, no I dont, and neither does that guy with 1000x my wealth. Rmt is a thing tho, for real those guys exist but I think ud be surprised how large a % of the really rich guys are legit sitting on cash cows and methods that are soaking up the rmt. Theyre not going to some dodgy website and buying 300 exalts for $, 10 other guys are doing that and then buying shit from these guys so the rmt dudes get an item each and the legit dude now has all 3000 of the exalts in question. Then it happens again the next day. You dont steal $10,000,000 from a bank and then just sit there and look at it, you spend it, and then its not your 10 mil any more. Some grubby, legit businessman selling property in the Bahamas now has it and hes going to use it to build 40 more properties to sell. You dont get mark zuckerberg rich by stealing money, people steal money because they dont want to work for it. Being mark zuckerberg rich takes a shitload of work, thieves make 1/1000th of his money and retire on it, theyre done. I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)

He got 72 mirrors by crafting +3 bows a very clever way. People who say new comers cant catch up to the filthy rich in standard arent thinking outside the box apparently :p
