PoE 2 servers are restarting in: .
They should be back up in approximately .How are People Finding Extreme Amounts of Currency?
Since this it's a really interesting thread, i'll make my shot into.
Yesterday it was exactly 3y ago that i rrgistered here. Found Like 2 ex and one traded For 69c. So i was wondering if it's better spend currencies before warbands ends. Or change ex to Chaos so when i pass in standard i get more ex 1:35 ? I apologize For bad English, typos made with phone and 5 o clock grammar. :) Last edited by metat0r0#4576 on Aug 16, 2015, 12:07:56 AM

Nobody finds large amounts of high tier currency. Players get rich by trading. You can farm alts/jews/fuse easily and chaos/regal easily (via the unID rare item recipe) but that's it.
I've played 2200+ hours, a lot of that MF farming bosses. I'd guess I've found something on the order of 15-20 exalts during that time and probably the same amount of divines. Found one eternal. Never seen a mirror. Found two top tier uniques during that time (Soul Taker from Dominus and Void Battery from Excavation boss). However, I have a few hundred exalts worth of wealth in items/currency (though no mirror gear) because I've had a shop open and done a lot of trading over that time. I'm not a particularly wealthy player compared to others who have played as much as I have. For what it's worth, I decided to do my Mjolner Rainbownuke build back when I was building wealth because Mjolner builds (while certainly not cheap) offer you a tier 1 GG endgame build without the need for any mirrored gear. " 11 ex is enough for many good builds. (you did find some usable gear along the way, right?) Unless you are shooting for mirrored gear, then you'll have to slave in Wraeclast salt mines, yes. If collecting alteration shards to sell for ex is fun gameplay for you... " Thousands of ex + mirrored gear? You mean people in Standard, who have been playing the trading game for 2.5 years now? You are way behind to be (trade) competitive in Std. Play temp leagues. --- I personally just play the game. Keep good items for potential future builds, sell a few items here and there, mostly to support mapping expenses. Reroll when I hit a jackpot drop. The game is actually very fun, when you are not interested in "press win button" mirrored items that cost 400 exa. btw, exa drop rate is 1 per ~40 hrs of grind in quantity bonus zones. You can gain medium amounts if wealth I'd you just farm really hard (ALTs and chaos from just vendoring lots of items), I'd say the limit is around 10ex of wealth before the grind starts wearing me down.
Anything larger like the 20+ ex range and its all down to getting lucky drops or playing Economy Trader Simulator and buying low selling high. You'll burn out trying to farm for 20+ exalts otherwise. IGN: Ikimashouka, Tsukiyattekudasai, DontCallMeMrFroyo

" Forget the find currency part it is so little it almost doesn't count (unless rngesus loves you). It's all about TRADING, TRADING & TRADING! Poe = 1% arpg & 99% trading simulator. Of course you can go solo selffound and completely skip the trading part but that way you will NEVER EVER own gear as good as mirrored gear. @Morbo Yes, this is standard i am talking about standard, and i have found plenty of usable gear, but i am still very limited on what i can do which is not a bad thing at all.
Even if people do spend hours of trading a day, that doesn't mean they have hours of gear to sell. The trading chats in Standard are always pack full of spam of even better gear than what you have to offer. Very, very interesting thoughts so far guys. Although, i still think the "TRADE" to get wealthy thing is a bit overrated especially now that the trade chats are spammed out with better stuff then what you have to offer. I still feel like you have a better chance at solo play of getting wealthier due to clear speeds, but that's another topic for another discussion. @Gilrad I completely agree with you on that. @666lol666 I agree with you on the trading part for sure. -Blood Last edited by BloodShotEyes#0368 on Aug 16, 2015, 4:36:00 PM

I farmed Piety for the looongest time with my main, a melee character. Effectively leveling him from 70-something to 80-something there. I first farmed for a 6-link, then later started farming and spending for upgrades on my mf gear till I had about 380/150 mf. Enough to have to make several trips back to town after one Piety kill, and enough defense/offense to make quick successive runs. Did the chaos recipe, sold items for 5c and above (personally I felt anything less than that is a waste of time to stop your playing and trade), and traded every currency for ex.
" I play with a similar attitude. If there's an interesting build I'll look at the effective cost of it, i.e. a build requiring a 6L Carcass is more realistic to aim for then another requiring a 6L Shavs. Last edited by Quixote77#2013 on Aug 16, 2015, 8:28:08 PM

" Specifically #2: Can you name example builds? Melee, Witch, Archer? Bonus points if you can provide links to builds! Thanks for your well thought out response! |

Like it's been mentioned already, just playing the game will eventually get you rich. I've leveled 2 character to 100, 1 to 98 and a few more past 90. I never really spent much time in tradechat, I just mapped in parties for xp all day and kept a shop where I sell anything semi-valuable rares I would find + the occasional good unique drop. My current build "only" uses 2 mirrored items, but the previous one I played I had full mirror gear. You don't have to flip items all day to get rich, simply playing for a long time will let you buy whatever you want. I never opened trade chat for the first 2000 hours I played and very rarely did so after.
The only farming I've really done a bit of is regular Atziri. Buying 10-20 sets at a time and doing them all usually nets you a decent profit unless you get very unlucky. One thing you might not have thought about is leveling gems. I made a ton of exalts just leveling gems and vaaling them for +1 lvl or +3 quality. At least 200 exalts I'd say. That does requires some RNG, but even if you just sell them without vaaling, you can still make a lot. Again, this requires you to map a lot, but that's my style. I know many people who make currency much faster than me, but slowly building wealth through endless mapping is what I do. |

@Exiled_Wanderer So, in 2,000 hours you had 2 mirrored items? I've yet to find any exalted orbs, and even better is that I've found 1 divine orb in 2,000+ hours of play time.
That's what amazes me still is that there are so many exalted orbs floating around even though there are so many of us who have not even seen an exalted orb or an exalted orb drop. If they are that rare then how are there so many Exalted orbs out there? Anyway, i am doing some more statistics on Bosses that are best to MF on. Ill post my thoughts on the statistics since we are not allowed to actually post data on the forums (For the new players). |
