Please do something about the Naming Policy

So GGG make an 18+ video game with full nudity showing the penis, vagina, ass, breasts and nipples, yet anyone naming a character after those things is somehow being offensive and needs to be banned.

What an amazing display of hypocrisy.

Having a rude or offensive name in this game isn't the equivelent of swearing on a bus. It would be the equivelent of going to an 18+ only strip club and expecting there not to be swearing or anything that will burn your innocent eyes.
(b) Personal abuse, foul language, inappropriate subject matter, obscene, harassing, threatening, hateful, or discriminatory or defamatory remarks of any nature ... are not permitted.

Go into a stripclub (assuming you're old enough) and start swearing and offending people. See how long before you get kicked out. Better yet, see what happens when YOU take your clothes off in a stripclub. "But, I'm allowed to do all this, right? I'm in a stripclub!"

Hello dear GGG,

Please in a real sincere way do something implement Naming Policy or sort out that people cant name there charachter with stuff as

- whore, ass, tits, licking your mom, ... or any of those stuff in anyway,

its really getting annoying to constantly see people on those names.

Any info regarding this matter or is this really out of the question ?

Thanks

Why a name policy? I figured thats what the ignore command was for when you see something in chat you didnt like. I honeslty think its kind of nice that an 18+ game allows people to be as dumb as they want to be with thier name. Sure, I would simply ignore dicklickerdelux because I'm pretty sure they have nothing to say I'm interested in but they should be allowed to make the name if they want.

Also, I hardly ever see thoes names. I think the reason you always see them and I never see them is because you are offended by them and I am not. Its the same reason when you buy a car and cant remember seeing many, if any on the raod. Then you drive home and its ALL you see.

Swearing and offending people arent mutually exclusive. If you were older than 12 you might have already learned that.

Going into a strip club and saying 'Fuck, look at those boobies' wouldnt get you kicked out.

Similarly if someone playing PoE types 'OMG I see a big red cock on this statue', I dont see how that is offensive to anyone. Similarly if they name a character Statue_With_Big_Red_Cock (if that would even fit), it would be extremely hypocritical for GGG to ban that name.

While I don't, as a general rule, make a personal mission of policing people's names, I find it rather amusing the way some people are responding in this thread.

Many are using words or phrases like "mature", "adult", or "grow up". A mature adult can recognize that when we log into PoE we are stepping into Grinding Gear's house. Grinding Gear Games has asked us to observe a particular set of rules while in their house. Among those rules are guidelines about the names we choose do identify ourselves with. By blatantly ignoring those rules you are not being "mature", "grown up", or "adult" in any way, shape, form, or fashion. You are being disrespectful to your hosts and to those around you. THere's no two ways about that.

Many of the people advising others to grow up with regard to the naming policy could stand to follow their own advice.
While I can understand some peoples feelings about this name policy issue, I can't help but side with Charan and some other people that I can't remember their names (sorry, but I suck with names). While names such as some of the ones listed by others are indeed distracting, it's ultimately up to each person individually to decide whether to respond to them or instantly ignore them.

Yes, I've seen some really horrid names that I don't care to repeat, but I also find some amusement when supposedly "rude" words are incorporated into names in a witty manner, and even have a few toons with what I consider to be at least slightly witty (for example my current facebreaker is named ARandomSTD).

With all that being said, if you don't like someones name, feel free to ignore them, just don't expect everyone else to have the same morals as you. Each person has their own individual morals, and opinions on what is acceptable and what is not acceptable. I personally would have to vote for no naming policy which incorporates a filter, but a terms of service naming guideline wouldn't be out of place either, as long as it's done with at least some tastefulness, not a general "don't use anything from this list of words" bullshit guideline, and alleviates some of the load of reports that the mods get in the offensive name category.
It is rather annoying to type "/whois _______" and other vague looking names.
Have a option for a swear filter. Pretty simple if you don't want to see naughty words click the swear filter in options.

would be nice, I have a young child and when he is up and around turning swears off would be alright till he is in bed.
