I recognise the current trading system in....
" NOT something like an AH though. Like I was saying since 9999999 years ago, before hideouts were even implemented (true story), hideout shops would be great. Get more shop tabs = MTX. What's not to like for both sides? |

" Inflation. The formula for inflation is basically M * V = P * Q (M being currency amount, V being frequency of currency spending, P being price and Q being the amount of items farmed and traded). With the introduction of an AH, V increases a lot since trading has become much faster and convenient, while Q stays the same at best (due to an increase of participation on the market) but probably decreases because most items become worthless. This means P skyrockets and everything goes to shit. See D3 AH. GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

Not to mention all the AH-bots that were programmed for D3. Something like them would also come to the PoE-AH. They only need to get set on buying items with X stats (e.g. Amulets with cc 30%+,cdmg 30%, life 60+ etc.) which have a bouyot of 1 ex or less and soon you have a lot of bot sniping the underpriced good stuff to flip it.
It would be a quality of life improvement, yes. But the main part of the community and the gaming experience would overall suffer from it. IGN: Kyrell

Im no expert on economics but how exactly could things be different? Trade by definition trades one item or service for another. I seriously doubt ancient Egyptians could do it in a second half way around the world though like we can so things have improved.

" Im 100 % sure that the formula you mentioned is invented and BS |

" +his assumption that Q stays the same is bullshit. Since I started playing one chaos orb got into circulation through me (i once traded a reduced mana gem for a chaos orb, only trade I ever done). However my stash on standard and warbands has currency from playing like 400 hours total. If there was an AH I would most likely use it and use the currency and items I have. " What do you mean by invented? It's not some mathematical or physical axiom if that's what you mean, but it proved to be pretty solid over the past couple of decades. Of course everything in economy should be taken with a grain of salt but calling the formula "BS" without explaining why is pretty lame. " You handled the "increased participation on the market" part of my post, but ignored the "most items become useless" part. Also I reckon most people who don't trade actually use their currency for crafting. What's the point of hoarding currency if you never use it? GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

" What you're formula is missing is that v and q are actually a ratio with m acting as a fairly static coefficient on that ratio to determine p where the values of the ratio v and q are directly and proportionately dependent on the number of participants in the system. Meaning even if there is an ah if there isn't some limit to the number of participants exceeded relative to the item/currency sinks and drop rates there wouldn't be the conditions for hyper run away inflation to take place. An ah makes it more difficult but not impossible by any means especially given the relatively low population of the endgame in poe. |
