Malformation Piety Boss. Are you kidding me?
well, the problem, is not "only" the beam, it's unplayable for the small space, multiple deadly attacks, items on ground, etc, for which reward?
You say, Atziri is hard, but well designed (the normal one, not the uber), it's hard but rewarding and good fight gameplay. Wtf is Piety? Seriously, he doesn't need to post his build, GGG know and I hope for them, they can improve this game. 20% Flat Chance to drop a map seems a little bit underwhelming for me.

" For that one, I recommend using the Option where items are hidden/cannot be picked up unless the loot key is pressed. This was something I discovered fighting Dominus. By the time you get to him, there's so much crap littering the roof, it's hard to move without picking stuff up, which can be deadly. For myself, I avoid maps with hard bosses. Anything listed on the Wiki page as either a 4 or a 5 difficulty, I'll just hoard the map until I have three, then vendor it for the next level. The problem with hard bosses is that they move fast, often move erratically, hit hard, do ranged and AOE attacks, have high armor, high resists, tons of life, and oftem summon adds. In addition, you're usually trapped in a small space with them (or else they cast bear trap, or attack from off-screen). The answer, of course, is to have better equipment. A few hundred exalts should get you where you need to be to run even some of the more difficult maps. How you get that kind of currency without running maps: I'm not sure. IGN: Feihthaven

For the science, I did a malformation map with some of the new mod settings from the last patch.
- increases to life and area of effect for the Unique Boss - increased unique boss damage and speed - increased Monster Movement, Attack and Cast Speed - -maximum Player Resistances (dunno if the boss does ele dmg, probably not) - chilled ground 6 deaths against the boss, was almost insta-kill each time. Her attacks were just unavoidable. As soon as she threw her giant red orbs and start lazering, it was death sentence. It was a good laugh (I didn't have a lot XP so no severe loss) but seriously GGG, you really expect your players will kill this thing ? Just for the usual crappy drops and the hope of 20% chance to gain a random low-lvl map ? Risk vs reward they said. With the awakening, GGG greatly increased the risk, and decreased the reward (useful uniques moved in higher rarity tiers, map drops nerf to the ground...). |

I haven't faced Malformation Piety boss yet (as I haven't gotten a single 76 to drop >.<) but I can only imagine that boss is a total skip.
From my experience, I have not seen a big difference in running disgustingly hard maps with 100+ quantity, compared to running ~30 quantity blue maps. 20% map drop rate for bosses? Maybe, maybe not, but I can say for sure it's not 20% +2 map drops. I'm getting tired of running these map bosses and getting no reward for doing so. I get better map drops off of Rare mobs than I do bosses, at least I get +1s from them occasionally. I definitely think the risk v. reward thing needs to be looked at, because as of now it's all risk with barely-there reward. And no I'm not advocating guaranteed +2 drops from bosses, but maybe the chance needs to be increased. |

Exspecially the incredible small arena and her sometimes standing right next to a wall make her very painful. |

" My character is pretty strong. It's not OP, especially after GGG nerfed whack every aspect of it. I'm level 94 on my witch, I got 10K ES, some armor, 60K damage frozen pulse, I'm CI, all resists are max. Running Arctic Armor as well. I also got Cold Leech. Teleport doesn't work very well against that boss - I get hit more often than not. The beam is moving WAY too fast to time it reasonably - and I'm not a computer but I have extremely good instincts and coordination. Anyway, just look at the rest of the posts in this thread........ People with mirrored items avoid her. I am doing ALL map bosses up to lvl 79 maps (which are the only I tried so far) successfully without dying. All of them. This one - I couldn't even kill her ONCE when REALLY trying hard. |

Done with 2 deaths with cyclone 25k dps facebreaker no life regen+life/area+other crap mods map...
Got 4k5 life and my armour... nobody cares, she one shot anyway. But 13k5 without flasks. Capped resists ofc If you guys with 2-3 times my dps and twice my hp can't kill her, you got a problem. Not Piety. If you ask about my deaths, just a miss click into the death ray :p |
