Phantasmagoria Boss
Stop pretending that one build can do any content. SRS, RF, dual flame, maybe max block can do it. There are maps that aren't easy with those builds too and I am sure other builds can run them with ease.

^sure, but are there builds that cannot do Underground River Map?
These bosses are WAY overtunned. And I'm not calling for making them all the same, but at least keep the difficulty level at par. If not, make them difficult, but worth to kill. Otherwise, there is no reason to do them, and they are being skipped by most players. What is point in that? Real knowledge is to know the extent of one's ignorance.
Ignorance more frequently begets confidence than does knowledge. | |
Satisfaction when you beat them perhaps, hmm? First time I tried maps like Orchard or Jungle Valley I was dead almost instantly. So you skip those. But one day, perhaps with different char or different gear you feel that you will try it again, thinking whether you are foolish or not. What is name of that new map, Village Ruin? 2 insta deaths before I made it.

Most new map bosses are harder than any existing map bosses, even if they're at lower levels than otherwise very easy old map bosses. Really don't see much point in having such a massive disparity in boss difficulty if this is intentional, needs resolving otherwise, at the least by moving all the easy bosses to 68/69 tier and harder ones at higher levels.
E: Just tried her twinned, no damage mods. 97% fire res, 22k armour, 4 end charges, fortify, 6K life, AA for chills. Was spamming pots and dipped to very low life quite a lot of times. I doubt many builds will ever be able to survive that. Imho that would make maps even more boring. I haven't played all old maps, but eg. Dominus in map (emmm Palace?) was way harder than any new (low level!) boss. I haven't seen any 75 map yet. So you would strip me of those nice "hard" bosses and let me run only those that can't hurt me? I don't like that. Where is fun in that? Don't we have enough discussion about poor map drops?

I did it with flame totem several times, but the fight is stupid. There is no good mechanics, in fact there is just one - don't get hit by the ranged attack, which basically means put the totems and hide somewhere until they die, repeat. Takes 10-15 minutes and it's not a fun encounter, it's actually terrible.
Map density is also horrible, which means that the chance of good drops is very low. Last edited by morinius#6954 on Aug 10, 2015, 1:33:53 PM

This is still the case in 2016.
cost me 2 deaths/portals to get it done. after first death, I grabbed topaz/grounding flask (wondering if it was lightening proj). I did the cast totem, hide, till I got her down to about 30%, then committed and prayed my leech and stone golem contributed life regen would see me through. It didn't the first commit, but did on the second. I pity the fool who has to do this in Hardcore. It isn't a very high level map...but requires a huge pool of life/es or massive & quick regen/recharge. This boss, Merveill, and the top tier beyonders... they are there for the .01% of builds to do, and the rest of us to strive and dream...even if they are nightmares. |

That boss is basically a boosted revenant. As such it uses a "spell" "projectile" "lightning" ranged skill, along with calling in minions. The projectiles can be dangerous if you fail to manually dodge them, in the worst case scenario you might get "chaingunned".
We don't need to discuss dealing with lightning damage, so let's talk minions: The ones it calls in have the same features as the ones used by regular revenants, which means their corpses explode after a short time, dealing substantial dmg (Fire, phys or both, not sure), if you are caught in the radius. Go into the "chamber", don't stay in one spot for too long. Don't lure it into a corridor, or you might end up getting whittled down, because it can attack you, but you will always have minions in the way. If you're melee, dodge the first salvo and whirl or leap straight at it right after. It has the same AI as revenants, so it won't shoot unless it gains some distance to you. If it does get away from you, wait for the next salvo to dodge. Rinse and repeat. [quote="ScrotieMcB"]It's just, like, people's opinions, man.
