Yea I had off-screen duel with my wander and it @L79 in tempest. Not exactly fun fight but survived with few close calls. Tanky melee would probably eat it alive tho, but it hits pretty hard trough (bad) evasion (maybe saved by CWDT-IC).

Doubt I'll try it again with this toon..
Boss is ok, I guess... spawns a shitton of adds so flaskspam (granite+jade) is a viable strategy; the whole fight is very boring though.

But omg that map-design! Too many "invisible" (read: same colour as ground) things that block movementskills, WAY too few monsters with WAY too much distance between packs

All in all an ugly, annoying and boring map that I won´t run again... back to the Shore.

Hold on to yer shite load o´ bloody barnacles on me arse-cockles, me hearty!

Just did this on tempest with 7k life, flame totemer, took 30 mins, since i could never place totems near her, since she took 60% of my health each time she hit me - never going back, not on hc at least
Just beat her. Yea, she hits like a truck, and the minions she summons explode on death for 3k... (with 76 fire res). I expect a lot of RIPs to her.
Wow, I haven't seen this map yet and I guess I'll just skip it if I do.

I ran 2 malformation maps after they were added and the areas were fine, but I didn't care for the boss. I stood no chance of even scratching it, which I accept. I have only ever gotten Atziri down to here first splitting and I feel good about that since its a big improvement from earlier attempts.

However, they could reduce the damage of the Malformation boss by 90% and it would still be a terrible encounter. You'd live, but its just not fun and a nightmare to look at.

If you were to show that fight to someone that had never seen the game before, you would turn them off immediately.

Its hard to believe that the same people designed A3 Piety/Dom and A4 Kaom/Daresso + map Merveil/Brutus/shock and awe/ death and taxes etc. (great fights) also made Malachi and A4 piety + Tormented Temptress (shit fights).

Putting you in a tiny room with something that summons 40+ adds to block your movement along with things on the ground that make you wheel around them unpredictably is bad enough. Put in a boss that sprays that tiny room with giant red balls of death that slow you down, and then have it spam a giant laser that does a 1080 every 10 seconds and kills you instantly with overcapped resists, 16% chaos res, and 6k+ hp is pretty ridiculous. Its a visual mess to look at, not unlike Malachai, and it breaks down to running in circles constantly while getting crap tossed in your way instead of attacking the boss.

This isn't Mario Kart. Shock and Awe works as an encounter because it doesn't fire its laser constantly, and it has cover to get behind. Even if it hits you, you don't just die instantly. You can't just stand there either because of the thunderstorms. It is a tense fight, but its fun.

I can fully appreciate that Atziri, Uber, and map bosses higher than Courtyard are beyond my build and that when they say that they are for "top builds" they mean it. I'm simply able to run yellow maps with difficult mods consistently, bosses included, and have fun doing it.

I simply find it disappointing that an otherwise great game has a few glaring encounters that even if the damage were nerfed, would still be no fun. In the case of Tormenting Temptress it does very little damage, but its so annoying there is really no incentive to kill it. It just makes you go "I see what you did there" and leave.

This process of adding a boss, having it kill everyone but the top 20 players, then nerfing it a few weeks later is getting silly.

Just moving a damage slider down does not make a fight better designed. I was amazed at how improved Brutus and Merveil became when they were changed, I'm hoping for similar eventually with some of these other new bosses.
I'm utterly perplexed why they spend so much time and effort on stuff that 99.9% of the players will never bother with.

They should expand the core game. Put some Normal and Cruel difficulty maps in play. Work on getting the balance right so that play throughout the game is fun and challenging, and not just the latest additions.
Lol after all the previous posts, and my own I actually got to run my first phantasmagoria map just now.

It was super easy, so unless the last 1-2 hotfixes changed something from when this thread started idk what the fuss was about. Compared to Malformation boss it was way easier, mostly due to there being room to move and you can clearly see what is going on at all times.

Tunnel trap hits harder than the Phantasmagoria boss I just killed so I have to assume they already nerfed it?
Easy kill as summoner, no problems at all. Got hit a couple of times myself but not to bad so not sure what paper armour your wearing
Just did it with my srs and took 2 minutes, was not impressed.
