I sincerely apologize for saying desync will never be fixed
I was wrong, not surprising as im frequently wrong lol
But in this case im glad I was wrong so if I ever told you that desync was part of the game and people should just shut up and deal with it I have to say ![]() I dont see any any key!

I wouldn't apologize. You were giving good advice based on the information you had at the time. If you stop doing that, if you're really sorry you did that, then you might as well crawl under a rock and never talk to anyone again.

Pstt...it's not actualy fixed what with predictive mode still in the game.
And lockstep needs a solid conection...if it's fluctuating a lot and you have lag then you'll still rubberband but rather than teleport you just go into fast forward. Ancestral Bond. It's a thing that does stuff. -Vipermagi

" I was still using predictive after lockstep was added for a while, I had a few slight desync situations and finally went in and changed it. (I was not expecting much, honestly...) Since then I'm running a duelist with fast attack on leapslam and was even using filcker strike for a while without problems. I can leap at full speed over monsters and around doorways without any fear, and I have to say it is kind of amazing. My latency averages around 50-60 on either of the US gateways (have not tried Cali, but I am in the NE US) - it does spike sometimes, or sustains 80-120 or even higher if someone else hosted the map - but lag and stuttering is still not nearly as dangerous as a desync in any way. I feel much more confident playing melee in PoE and simply have nothing negative to say about lockstep, it rocks! |

" That's as fixed as it gets, though. If your connection is shit your experience in every online game will suck. GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

" I'll agree with this, the information from Chris in that old old Desync post didn't exactly generate a lot of confidence that it would be fixed. Everyone pretty much said - "Well it ain't getting sorted without some fundamental changes to the way the game works." Of course, I don't think anyone was actually expecting the fundamental changes to happen :) Awesome that they did, hopefully it provides an overall better experience once fully implemented. I'm looking forward to trying it, but I doubt lockstep will be a good idea for me - my ping jumps around between 60ms - 150ms a lot thanks to NZ internet being made of number 8 wire and raisin packets. == Officially Retired 27/02/2019 ==
Massive thanks to GGG for producing such a fun and engaging game, it has taken up faaaaaaar too much of my life over the last 5 years. Best of luck in the future! |

" Oh, I disgree. I feel most of the "stop complaining, there's nothing that can be done" was more about people not wanting to see complaining on the forums than "giving advice based on the information they had at the time." It's the difference, I saw, between people who loved the game but wanted it to be better (and gave feedback, or "complained"), and people who loved the game and didn't want any negative threads/complaints/feedback. Yet here we are. If anyone hasn't realized by now, GGG has their reputation because they DO listen, and they DO something when it can be done. Rewriting the network code? No one thought it would be done, even Chris felt it was the wrong type of network model for an ARPG. But that is what complaining is for. To sway GGG's preconceived notions. To make them stop, go "wow, a LOT of people are complaining, our game has a reputation for having the worst desync, maybe we should do something drastic". And it worked. I can't help feel this is a perfect example of why complaining works. And why trying to silence those complaints is the worst thing one can do to for the game. I for one applaud K1rage for apologizing. The real test is if he can stop posting "beating a dead horse" meme's and realize complaints work, and can bring issues to GGG attention that can lead to improvements in the game. ༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ Give moar Power Creep Pls |
