The Guide to Loot Filters

Thanks for the guide, this is awesome. I do hope they will add the primary stats to the filterable things at some point.

I don't know... I thought GGG wanted to make the game more appealing to new players (without removing endgame ofcourse) HAVING to go out of the game to manage a lootfilter is highly unattractive - JUST SAYING THE OBVIOUS;I personally do not have problems with these kinds of things as a semi-programmer, however... I really really know that others do have one. And this comes very close to it..

You should give like 5 options ingame on how to filter the loot,better enable to set it up ingame... not for me, but for the general folks!

I think new players are better off playing without a loot filter for a while. Without experience, using a loot filter can give a pretty skewed idea about what drops are like. If you aren't experienced, you shouldn't be writing a loot filter with any Hide statements at all; there are a lot of good filters from other people that can be used, but knowing how to tweak them properly and make sure they actually do what you want is also difficult without experience.

On the other hand, with the system as-is, players get a sense of what loot feels like, what the (wide) variety of drops are, what may or may not be valuable (e.g. socket recipes), and then they can decide if they want a filter, what sort of filter they want, etc. As far as managing a loot filter outside of the client goes....eh, I can definitely understand that gripe, even though there's no good place for GGG to put one. But with things like Filtration available (which is really, really nice to use) and guides here/on the wiki, I think it's got just about the right level of learning curve for new players.

Please say that you're planning to add this guide to the PoE Wiki.

http://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Loot_Filters

Really, really useful, excellent work.

I am planning on doing so, I am awaiting a few answers on some things at the moment though.

There are also a lot of formatting issues that i've got to spend a fair bit of time on as the gamepedia submission is not BB Code like PoE is.

Also;
- No Spoilers - So i need to be able to show the formatting of filters without being too cluttered..
- All image files have to be uploaded to their directory

Is there a way currently to make a dynamic block? Would cut down on a lot of coding. Something like:

Hide
--------Class "Life Flask" "Mana Flasks" "Hybrid Flasks"
--------ItemLevel >= DropLevel+10

Not currently, I've seen a few people asking for that to be added though.

Nuts, one can hope. Would make it really easy to do a progression filter that way.

If they implement it, I'd also hope for a PlayerLevel and a Not function (x=/=y).
