Solo Yolo 5 day ~ Any advice from you self found players?
I am really looking forward to this! Sometimes I try to play "self found" but I often end up cheating myself with a trade or two, then it just becomes a trade character again.
Being limited in gems, uniques, rares and even good magics and making use of items I would usually consider vendor trash should be lots of fun! I have already part planned my class/build around quest rewards, which should help in the gem department. I think I will do just fine, but... Do any of you self found players have some top tips for us new to the strategy?:) p.s. wonder if they will offer keys to the top xxx players? that would be fun! This is gonna be probably a cutthroat league so i wouldn't bother.
I'm a forum warrior, i was born to post, raised to defend my league. Now my post has been removed, chained and exiled by mods who Ban. Ban is my brother; i do not fear it. I see it in the eyes of men and beasts that i troll. It will take me to play the actual game when i am ready and i am not ready.

If you play hc choose a build/class that allows you to max resists without trouble.

" Any source or is this you thinking out loud? @ OP - there are lots of things to bare in mind when playing SF. Like you already mentioned, certain gear drops will all of a sudden be very relevent instead of vendor trash. What I would say is this, players will very quickly come to realise how much they can do without. If you typically trade, you probably play through normal, maybe even all of cruel but then your weapon starts to fall off, your stats are lacking and your resists are low so you trade. This time, instead of going online or reading spam-chat, you'll actually have to kill stuff and farm to find gear. You'll also perhaps want to spend some orbs on crafting, instead of the attitude of hoarding everything. It really puts a different spin on the experience. I want to write up a comprehensive 'tips guide' for any that are interested, I just need to get out of work and infront of my potato Just for try for see and for know -2013!

don't go for a build that needs any uniques to function.
spell caster is easier to get gear for than phys dmg builds. read up on gem quest rewards as those are the only ones you can be sure to find. |

If you plan to play melee the rustic sash recipe will be very useful!

Going with a "spell" user is probably the easiest route.
On a side note: I'm interested in how this will work. The only 2 ways this will work are: 1. No partying allowed. or with parties: 2. All loot is permanent allocation and then BoA, or cannot be dropped (<--that's silly). Otherwise, there will still be "trading". Ppl will group together, and do the old mud flats trade (from CB for those unawares). The two ppl will meet in X zone, one drops an item, the other drops the payment and they both go pick up the other players things. As with most anything PoE related: More information needed lol |

play like you normally do minus 5 other people works.... do people seriously think it's harder to solo? well I guess if you're a scrub so used to being carried...
theres nothing limited about playing solo.. "We don't want to take away the feeling of closing your eyes and Exalting an item, scared to see whether you ruined it or not." - Chris Wilson 3/10/2021 Last edited by XeroSlayer#4000 on Apr 23, 2015, 12:05:00 PM

Thanks guys! advice noted :)
I am familiar with most recipes, I looked into them when I dabbled in racing recently. It will be nice to utilize the recipes more often to upgrade gear when the RNG is lacking. I plan to go 2H Marauder on HC (as the quest rewards are looking perfect for what I have planned). Crafting adequate maces should not be to difficult and the build needs no unique's to function. My build also uses Armour items and is almost exclusively strength gems so colouring should not be a problem. I would guess that the biggest challenge for me will be capping resists, but if I farm for loot around the start of Merc I think it should be ok on that front too. I am also almost exclusively a solo player, so I will be fine on that front in combat. Last edited by Varkorium#2704 on Apr 23, 2015, 12:09:47 PM
