Should've called the game Path TO Exile - MTG Fan anyone?

with the ability to draw cards for resources and play more resources, it mean you don;t get delayed so mcuh by resource clumps... eg if you have 9 resources, and nothing to do, at end of opponents turn, you can draw 3 cards

The Spoils method seems a little complicated. I had an opportunity to get into Spoils but decided against it as I'm already fairly invested in MTG/MTGO .. It just seemed crazy to multiply that cost with another TCG.

It's incredibly de-motivating for any other TCG out there .. MTG is great, It sounds close minded but I can't see myself ever even trying anything else.

I've played several CCGs, and MTG is by far the worst rules-wise and enjoyment wise, however it's the best investment. You can make money off MTG, it's harder with other games. Spoils is much cheaper to get into, most expensive rare in game is $20US on the closest thing spoils has to StarCityGames

Started MTG back when Revised and Antiquities were being printed. Stopped shortly before they changed the artwork to a cartoony look that I despised. They also dumbed the game down a LOT. No more mana burn, rampage, banding, etc. And lots of overpowered cards printed(and unrestricted old overpowered cards).

But yeah, some of those cards from 18 years ago are worth quite a bit now. I think my brother could literally sell his collection for a house.

Sounds interesting. Though i really no money to spend on cards. Is the online version fun. Never played any trading card games. Just collected Pokemon cards.

Yeah, it's fun. Pretty good way to learn the rules as well. There used to be a way for people to play free games with pre-built decks so you could play/learn the game without having to purchase cards. Though, I don't have MTGO installed anymore and I'm not sure if they still have that.

With MTG Online, one can play 10 preconstructed decks for absolutely free - no need for account at all. Account costs around $10, one time payment. Once you have account, ability to trade cards opens. That also means access to 3 trade bots giving out 64 free commons - MTGOTradersFreeBot allow that for every month. If that's not enough, there are deals as good as 256 commons / 64 uncommons / 8 rares for $1 - "crappy" and good cards, no top stuff, of course.

Actually how I found the game lol, I'm working on a white/blue metalcraft deck rocking 3 paths 3 swords sum counters possibly a mindscupter or 2... but what's really fun is prototype portal ratchet bombs :P

I haven't play since Ravnica block rotated out. Once my Boris Wins deck was broken I haven't had the heart to play again.
