Kickstarter Campaign for PoE's Optional Self Found League!

Yeah, I don't think it would be any excuse for Chris (or Qarl, or whomever at GGG) not to actively and consistently *play* PoE if they really have a passion for it, which I believe (hope?) they still do.

I really don't mean to sound like a tool - and I know this does - but I would daresay my and many others players' lives are at least as busy as either Chris' or Qarl's and I/we managed to keep playing PoE for nigh on two years at a fairly constant level. So I don't buy the busyness hypothesis for them not playing. They may just not enjoy it, of course, and that would be consistent with the theory that Chris' vision of what PoE actually is today is different from (some/many) players' real life experience.

GGG should just run a 2 week SFL race to test it out. I think many people like the idea on paper but would soon change their mind once they realize how much convenience the "1-2 chaos" -trades bring. Even leveling can be a huge pain in ass without any trading.

I think a two week race is a totally different beast to a longer term, let alone indefinite, league. So the feedback you'd get on a self found *race* is relevant for *races*. I, for example, wouldn't bother playing a two week race even if it were self-found as I have zero interest in two week races.

pretty much this, i cant even comprehend why they wouldnt play it, honestly in my opinion you shouldnt be let to design a game that you dont even play because you will cock it up, as they have in some cases.

Is anyone else bothered that the OP cites a biased poll as statistical evidence of what "the community" wants?

Like you make all these good points and then point to a poll that holds zero weight.

You gather data that has an obvious selection and sampling bias and then use it as "data supporting the player base's desire" when really it is just "data that supports my opinion therefore it's good data and clearly evidence of x."

This is manipulation, whether you intended it to be or not. Because either you understand how statistics work, and you are using biased results in this manner to further your agenda, or you are ignorant to how they work and just don't know better.

inb4 ad hominem attack about how I am only pointing this out because I am against SFL or something, when in reality i dont care if there is an optional self found league, or an option for there to be a self found ladder within leagues where players can click a button on the character creation specifically making a character unable to trade.

If they would become players they would be tempted to balance the game in how they play, not how they want us to play. It would basically be like cheating.

i think they would actually find that some of the things everyone complains about are real reasons for complaining, shit like gating content by RNG(maps having droprates is just stupid, i dont know why but theyre intentionally slowing leveling by doing that), abysmal drop rates for usable items in general, the in game economy, 2h melee etc.

Im mostly bothered by the fact that some people dont want SFL, and i have no idea why, its gonna be an optional league, nothing else would change, if they dont like it and dont want to play it they can do that, no one is forcing anyone into sfl, there would just be a new permanent league

I would donate the 5k points I have leftover for it.

But I think GGG will never do it because it would split up the players, simple as that.
