You took the wind out of my sails with the second paragraph of your opening post :P And I've always supported SF ladders. And I definitely hope people don't see me on the same level as Dirk lol (yes offence).

Oh no, they got you too. What a shame, i started to like you. Back to hating you i guess. Se you next week.

BTW, i hope you all get your oh so well deserved SFL, HC and SC and races and PVP, all of it, hell, they should buff the drop rate for it. Enjoy. :)
I guess I'm in disagreement with the community; I really can't unsee SFL requests as anything but a veiled request for (massively) buffed droprates on currency and GG gear.

I could see implementing a self-found ladder as a good idea (trade with another player = removed from said ladder) but a whole league? Stop pussyfooting around and just ask for increased droprates. It's what you want, so have the balls to ask for it.

Just let them at least ask for a SFL, it doesnt harm you in any way now does it?

And that would be wrong to have? This is what 94h in Bloodlines gave me:

I mean, current PoE temp leagues are like a hamster wheel with no rewards in sight. It just sucks.

„I don't give a fuck if it was his tenth anniversary with his goddamn neckbeard...“
„If they think I'm going to let them sweep this pizza guy thing under the rug...“
No mod action. Business as usual.
So far this is just another SFL thread to replace the old one. I see no evidence of an actual kickstarter other than a few people saying they'd contribute $x. Nobody is even tracking the pledges, which amount to a pittance.

I read the whole thread and need to pour bleach in my eyes.

I have two people who have promised to contribute something.
One person who has promised to contribute "big money"
One person for 5,000
One person for 500
One person for 300
One person for 100

My math says the actual dollar amounts should pay for 7% of one developer. Looks like an astounding success so far.

Assumptions: These are USD which are converted to NZD. Used median software developer salary for the area and converted to Full Time Equivalent.

I agree; that's why I don't play temp leagues. I don't think the solution is buffed droprates/SFL.

on-topic :

I played SFL mode for roughly a year and a half before i allowed myself to trade and got involved into the "standard PoE" experience.

This helped me understand a lot of the mechanics, look at it like this :
when you are deprived of the bare necessity's creativity surges and this combined with persistence make for a great combination to really dig in and start to understand what makes a character good.

I could urge every new player who joins this community to do the same. It's cheap and you learn a lot, however it is not for the feeble minded.

I open with that because it holds relevance to my next point.

Assuming that an SFL is going to last 4 months at a time, it should exit into a void league. And it should have increased drop rates.

Now why do i say such a thing?

1) this game is ever evolving and it's rapid changes make a static long duration SFL totally meaningless.
Consider the time it takes to farm a single character with trade enabled? Now roughly multiply that time by six and you get a number at which a SFL player would finish that character.
I estimate an average of around one year to roughly one year and 6 months for a character to attain "full completion" by it's creator in a SFL league. (this is purely speculation based on my past experiences with the game, note that RNG might shorten or prolong this)

Now if we apply such a long duration to PoE in it's current state, that character would have gotten roughly four to six respecs, the passive tree reworked and nerfed/buffed three or more times(extensively).

As such, the original design of the character is also subject to change, even prolonging the duration to completion even more.

So in short, an SFL would have to push that one year and a half for completion into a time-span between extensive passive tree re-works. I see no other way to do this then to either enable "high end targeted crafting + increased drop rates" Or just increased drop rates (but then RNG dictates the outcome more and the completion process is again subject to change by a greater degree)

That is not to say that i would particularly want this, i would play it for sure, but it is not high on my "santa's list". But i can understand the desire for it and wanted to share this thought process with you as to why it should exit in a void league and the reasoning behind doing so.

Carry on sir's.

Peace,

-Boem-

Yep, keeping the current economy based dropped rates doesn't make sense for SF. I don't want higher drop rates - I'd actually like less. But instead of a bunch of items where 10 are useful items that are upgrades for other people I need to sell to, then buy what I need, I'd rather have 1-2 useful items that are actual upgrades for me.

This is what I posted earlier in the thread:

The rate of useful items goes down, and the rate of useful upgrades goes up to compensate, is the way I look at it. As it is now, the rate of useful items drop rate is high because it's an economy and even if its' not an upgrade for me, it's an upgrade for someone else. But out of those numerous useful items, none are upgrades for me.

So instead of 100's of drops where 10-20 items are useful for someone else that I have to sell so I can buy one upgrade for myself, I'd rather have 1/2, 1/3 the number of drops, but one of them is an actual upgrade I can use for myself.

edit: here's some simple tldr numbers. Instead of 100 drops where 10 are useful items for others, 0 are upgrades for me. 10% useful item drop rate. I'd rather have 50 drops where 1 is a useful item and an upgrade for me. 2% useful item drop rate.

Asking for a better drop rate in a league with no trading is massively different than simply asking for a better drop rate.

Yeah but the only reason people ask for SFL is because they want better droprates and they understand it wouldn't work in the current game where trading is a thing.

SFL, with the exception of discussing a separate a self-found ladder, is just veiled QQ about droprates.

I think it would be a hilarious April Fool's joke if they put in a SFL that was identical to the current leagues but without trade. The QQ would be delicious.

So you want all of these items in 24h or less?
