Kickstarter Campaign for PoE's Optional Self Found League!

I actually like the idea. I have played ARPGs since Diablo1 (incl D2, D3, TL1, TL2, TQ... you get the idea) and the number of times I've partied up is probably less than 1%. I don't like to trade. My enjoyment comes from finding stuff. In fact, I find myself starting over new chars when I hit a high level, because it turns into min/maxing with an upgrade to my gear being a very rare occasion. When you start fresh, and find a blue phys belt with decent explicits, that's great! You find a useful unique? Party time!

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy PoE. It's all I play at the moment. But I play it predominantly as a single player game (and I'm sure I'm not alone in that). My highest char is a 75 ranger and she's stuck with 4Ls. I don't find farming/trading for currency fun, so I run maps to find a 5s/l bow or chest. So far no luck. Looks like i'm going to cave and buy one after all, with all the chaos i've found and got from vendoring, in the meantime.

Anyway, I digress. I would like a self-found league with slightly upped drop chance for linked gear. The gem system and playing around with their interaction, as well as the passive tree is what defines your build (imho), especially if your objective is not to slog through 60 levels just to get to the point where you can equip those 2 pieces of unique gear that are the sole reason for this character's existence.

Why not the ability to create your own single player league with some toggles:
- HC - yes/no
- increased unique/linked drops - yes/no
- free respecs - yes/no
- Select mode: Beyond, Ambush, Torment, Bloodlines, etc.

Not trying to take anything away from the players who are enjoying the current system. No one is proposing to take that away. Also, not expecting any game mechanics to be developed specifically for these SP/SF leagues. Just another option for those that have different tastes.

Trying to apply fault on the consumer is beyond madness.

I have said this so many times before. I want to fucking find my gear, not buy it from someone. (whether that be real $ or in game currency - as if that is a difference anymore)

I don't understand peoples' perseverance on the insistence that the game must fundamentally change in order to satisfy them especially when there are games that exist that meet their criterion.

I don't fault people for not liking the game, this game is not for everyone it seems.

I do fault people for expecting the game to change to cater to exactly what they want.

Hi, Welcome to Chocolate House, we sell all chocolate type things.

Consumer - "WAHHH I HATE CHOCOLATE SELL VANILLA SELL IT OR UR STUBBORN AND LET UR EGO GO TO YOUR HEAD WAHHHH WAHHH WAHH, I DON'T WANT CHOCOLATE, I DONT WANT TO DEAL WITH CHOCOLATE, I DONT WANT TO SEE CHOCOLATE, YOU NEED TO CHANGE THIS NOW WAHHHH WAHHHH"

I'm sorry sir, we are the Chocolate House, home to all chocolate goods, may I suggest you try many of the other stores in town that sell Vanilla and Vanilla accessories?

Consumer - NO YOU CHANGE TO WHAT I WANT, IM NOT GOING TO THE STORES THAT SELL VANILLA, WHY ARE YOU BEING SO STUBBORN

----

Have self found, sure, go ahead, but don't make it effect people that want to play the game as it is.

Just no.

A better example to expand on what you said. I go to the chocolate store.

Me: "Hello, do you guys have German chocolate?"

GGG: "Nah sorry we don't"

Me: "Really? That is really popular around here, I'm surprised."

GGG: "Yeah we get requests all the time, the owner just don't like the taste personally."

Me: "Wow, that's interesting. Doesn't that hurt your sales"

GGG: "Probably, but my boss doesn't want to sell his moral soul by offering something he can't enjoy himself"

Me: "Well I like your store, the employees are helpful, it's pretty close to my home and easy to get to. But you just don't have what I'm looking for that most chocolate stores have"

GGG: "Take care! Zero fucks given!"

Your analogy falls flat on that bolded part there. SF isnt a thing in all that many games.

You get SF in D3 and other than that i dont know any game where you get it, so maybe go there? GGG doesnt want a SFL because they dont want to, if they did they made one years ago. This thread ends like all other "plz GGG we beg you to give us stuffz" threads, nowhere.

You people all want your SFL? Go, make a real kickstarter, put your money where your mouth is and fund your own self found game. If thats not an option for you guys, then lots a luck gentlemen, because GGG aint ever gonna make a SFL, but you can keep begging for it and thats your right of free speech.

I find this thread an insult to GGGs work ethic and vision of the game they want to make. SFL isnt part of that vision yet you all are here begging over and over in a thousand threads for something you will never get.
To be fair, Mano's anology fails flat on its ass aswell, because people want SFL in Path of Exile, not in Diablo 3 or w/e other game.

Well, the point being, GGG wants a trading based economy, there is no such thing with an SFL. Every league has had trading as a feature and GGG will not back away from that. There are games that are suited for SF, because they were made for that purpose, or, in some games, readjusted.

If a child begs mama for a lollie all day, thats rude, because the child knows the answer is no and the answer will never change.

This thread is disrespecting to GGG plain and simple. I had my issues with certain things and voiced my opinion on it and i let it go because i know it doesnt help if i bring it up all the time.
Really? This thread is disrespecting GGG? Yeah, not getting that at all. What I am seeing is passionate fans of the game who are expressing an interest in a different style of playing it and are lobbying for support from the developers. Given that they appear to have stated that it's not a priority (read: we need our resources elsewhere), the OP stated, why not raise money so GGG may be able to develop this feature without impacting the product roadmap...

The answer might be no and stay no. Fair enough. But I don't see what's wrong with putting forward ideas, requests and pleas to influence a company to add certain features to a product.

If I give you some friendly advice, the first time you may very well hear me out. If I poke you 1222149 times and tell you the same thing even though you've repeatedly told me you disagree, you might stop giving a shit about what im telling you.

They heard this rhetoric all before though. Do you really believe "claiming" you pay for it is gonna make GGG want to put up with all the work that would have to go into making and maintaining a SFL? You guys are not actually putting up the money anyways, are you? Proof, it, make a real kickstarter and get some money together, because all this is what it always was, hot air.

And when mama says you get a lollie later at home and the child believes mama, it later forgot it wanted one to begin with. So maybe you should read between the lines when GGG says "we need our resources elsewhere", but i doubt thats what GGG really said but oh well.

Granted. But I think GGG are much better at ignoring threads that they are not interested in than you give them credit for. Heck, the entire forum is full of posts that are rehashing what's been said for 2 years. You'd think by now they would be permabanning people who bring up the desync issue.

Why not let folks voice their opinion and requests and get out of the thread. The guy above me probably posted more on this than most other contributors. Why? Just move on, like you keep telling everyone else.
Desync is a legitimate issue. In GGG's eyes a SFL is not.
