Anyone feels the need of A companion while solo? Just out of random

It doesn't matter how the action takes place. What matters is the strategy element. Does raising more than one Pokemon hinder the strategy of the series or enhance it? I'm arguing that having a companion in PoE would enhance the strategic components in the game. It has nothing to do with how the action plays out in the field. Whether you are hurling pokeballs or power syphons, the player will have more things to think about when you add more characters for them to manage.
a tactical turn based combat is completely different from real time arpg. You guys are trying to instill fucking xcom here? Arpgs were never about strategy, nor do they need to be. If I want to play xcom or blackguards or homm, I'd do that. Why do you need to put it in an arpg I have no idea. Especially poe, which has low enemy health and a high level boss can be one shot in full parties. Poe combat is so binary either you face roll content or content face rolls you. As a pure pve player I fail to see what a companion would add to the game.

I see a lot of aggressive rhetoric but you're not making much sense. Are you going to tell me that this game has no strategy element? Have you seen the skill tree or the class section? I'm sorry, I just don't follow you except for that fact that something I've said has upset you.
The people who don't want them are the elitist people we don't like anyways

It would not hurt anyone if you could use a merc (just don't if you don't like/want them how hard was that to figure out)
If you want to party with 1 person and not use a merc who is stopping you?

Not adding this is like forcing us to party to get a merc when we don't want to party but do want some type of merc

So its unbalanced for people who don't party and OP to people who do if you look at it like that

To balance it make this and let us summon one if we want or party if we want = BALANCE! :D

It may not add much but really what did pvp add... nothing and its in here so shut your holes
Personally I'd be happy for the inclusion of a companion/merc to be used while soloing the game. I don't often party because I may want to take a break from the game and go grab a coffee, review my skill tree or item stash, etc. and I don't want to feel like I'm a burden on others.

I actually think that adding this feature would open up a range of new builds that currently aren't very viable. Plus, the extra XP and item drops would be welcome and nobody get's their nose out of joint about which player get's the uber unique drop.

I don't think that the inclusion of this would result in any real downside to other players either.

I really enjoyed the option in Torchlight where you could dispatch your pet to town to sell gear you'd acquired but didn't need rather than have to TP back and forward all the time. The balance was you lost the offensive abilities of your pet while they were away so overall it was a good balance.
Let me get this straight

I want some sort of merc not because I'm lonely when solo, for me if I don't have a real life friend to play this game with there is not really a point to party since my play time is quite random.

I'm poking out a companion but it turns out to be more of a additional "skill" and yes it ultimately is like a strategic element.

Would you agree that solo builds are quite limited compare to those with party? (more the dedicated ones). This companion should help soloer survive high lvl maps with versatile builds.

It really has to be some sort of companion because this game is designed in a way that if you want to play summon you have to dedicate your gear your passive towards it.

Can we stop stepping on arguments and instead present your idea of how this companion can shape the game you like?

if you totally content with partying or solo at this state then why bother fighting here, it's not like GGG will do it anyways. We just chatting.
Dragon's dogma type companion come's to my mind. a very nice addition like that is always welcome. but its a different genre but the essence around it seems good. like customization. and how each players could hire others pawn, since they have a variance on builds.
