Anyone feels the need of A companion while solo? Just out of random

Two options come to mind, you could start a new summoner character, or you could buy one of the microtransaction pets. I'm pretty sure they have some ugly bug ones that barely cost anything, as well as some slighlly nicer ones for more money(nice being subjective of course). The pets wouldn't give any actual bonuses though, but they would keep you company.

One option came to mind.
Play on parties
Anybody can become angry - that is easy, but to be angry with the right person and to the right degree and at the right time and for the right purpose, and in the right way - that is not within everybody's power and is not easy.

I'd much rather just party with a random person.
Ideally companion would be one of my actual friends but give me a loot-stealing asshole from the forums any day over a literal bot.

I don't understand that at all. If you have companions in Baldur's Gate, Dragon Age, or Mass Effect, are they "bots" or an extension of the player's ability to make and execute strategy. I personally don't like it when I play with someone else who's power level is lower or higher than my own. Because it makes one player actually rather worthless. If I'm killing everything, what are they there for? If they are killing everything, what am I there fore. With a companion the player can manage both so that they are in sync power wise and compliment one another.

Are you really comparing party-based tactical RPGs to a multiplayer hack & slash ARPG? (Not that Bioware's latest games are tactical, or even RPGs, or anything but fantasy dating sims - but that's a point for a different discussion.)

In the latter, other players replace the party members. Play with them or play solo. Henchmen that add nothing but annoying, unfunny comments like in D3 have no place in these games.

yeah, there is quite a big difference between party RPGs and ARPGs. in party RPGS there aren't 'companions', there are party members. in arpgs companions are indeed 'balls of buffs', adding nothing significant to the gameplay imo. the biggest thing companions added in d3 was memes of 'glorious' from that dumb templar.
If GGG ever considered such feature for POE, I bet it won't be something small, since companions can ultimately shorten the game cycle r(which is something they trying to prevent with all these nerfs).

I'm not suggesting an easier game, I'm suggesting a feature to entertain SOLO players, and it's not a following pet which does nothing, nor like summoners playing style but rather some minor secondary character that you can build along with, to further extend your build tactics. Think about it, if GGG play this smart it can open up a whole new realm of gameplay interests. It can be something that differs with classes(so class makes bigger difference) or a guild guardian body so guild offers more than a chat channel, or anything. D3's companion is an example but it certainly aren't that good.

You can't deny the needs to solo, party is simply not an option for some player.

SOLO ftw!

This is not in any way made up or taken out of context, it is in fact a direct quote.

I lol'd - You nailed it!
Nothing wrong with what you want OP, and I actually support it, as there is nothing wrong in having it. Most of arpg have it. From diablo 2, d3, to torchlight series, or van helsing with the best companion ever implemented in this type of games.

There just needs to be a alternative bonus for people that dont want to use one so the game is balanced

Yes. Yes I am. They are similar enough to make comparisons between the two. Also, Persona 4 is widely recognized as one of the greatest rpg experiences of all time and literally half of it's game play is inspired by japanese dating sims!

Believe it or not but romance and fantasy and swords and magic all go hand in hand. Ever since the beginning. Ancient myths a thousand years before Tolkien's day. I think you've got your blinders on if you can't see that it is chemistry and characters that have always driven the wizards and warriors.
