For whatever reason, semantics seems to be THE way out of getting out of trouble for forum goers as it tries to slide around intent.

I personally don't see anything wrong with Anal_Knight - Though a dev deemed it offensive. I only really have problems with racial slurs as I see such as ignorance.

By the age of 48 you really should know the real meaning of troll/trolling. When someone speaks up for something they believe, it is not trolling. When someone disagrees with you, it is not trolling. When someone will say anything, regardless of their own beliefs, in order to make you angry; that is trolling.

Agreed on the severity part.

But I do have a confession to make; I often report names that could be considered offensive, even if they don't offend me personally.

The way I see it, if somebody's dumb enough to do/say something that's considered breaking the rules, I will capitalize on that. Almost like a legitimate form of trolling.
