I need help to choose a RPG to play, folks.

Did someone say jRPGs?

Final Fantasy Mystic Quest
Shining Force 2
Seiken Densetsu 2 3
Tactics Ogre
Gungnir
Grand Knights History
Tales series?

dungeon crawler that left an impression on me
Dungeon Travelers 2: Ouritsu Toshokan to Mamono no Fuuin

Pros:
+kusoge
(return to title screen with 2 button presses any time in battle when getting rekt by RNG
aka rage quit)
+customization
+crafting
+team building
+has a post game

Cons:
-kusoge(difficulty and RNG)
-excess fanservice
-get lost easy
-you will get mad at this fucking game
-better save often in new areas
-save data doesn't keep track of time past 99:59:59
-requests are retarded but you have to do them to unlock stuff
-being able to read kanji helps(I know a bit but I'm not fluent)
-fixed areas have unavoidable encounters(usually past a doorway, running is also disabled)

Other:
Grindy
Spells aren't instant
Action delay is a stat
Spell cast (turn) time is a stat
You can get interrupted before you cast

If you're super hardcore
Play Shining in the Darkness without a guide

Im starting to feel like this thread was more about telling us what rpgs you like and less about which one to play next. Atlus jRPGs...shudders.

I'm a natural derailer, sorry. Nocturne tends to bring the fanboy on me, that game gave me a great impression. THIS. IS. OFF. TOPIC.

Anyway, the suggestions helped me a little to decide.

You know, too many choices is like having no choices, ;)

I think I'll play Baldur's Gate next, and when I can, Dark Souls and the Witcher. There are some rpgs I've never heard about, I'm remembering them (like that bloodlines one).

PS: what's your problem with Atlus?

=D

I'll search for the aesthetically distinctive ones. If there is a problem with JRPGs is that they look too similar, so the different ones tend to stick more (like Chrono Trigger).

Too much FF for me, so I've seen it all.

Hellraid and The Memory of Eldurim look like they have a lot of potential, however both are still in development, although The Memory of Eldurim is available now as an early access game on Steam.

Don't take that as an attack, I was just curious, :P. Goddamn shitty writing of my part.

No worries mate. Im really into Art in general and im rather picky about the stuff I like. By default if I don't like a game's style; visuals, atmosphere and feel I wont get into it, regardless of mechanics.

That being said, ive never had an atlus game's style appeal to me, except maybe demon's souls.
So that's the "why".
