I need help to choose a RPG to play, folks.

I've played a handful of the good ones:

Diablo 1/2
Planescape: Torment
Fallout 3
Final Fantasy IV to X and Tactics
Parasite Eve
Persona 3
Digital Devil Saga 1/2
Shin Megami Tensei: I/II/Nocturne/Strange Journey
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night/Aria of Sorrow/Dawn of Sorrow/Portrait of a ruin/Order of Ecclesia

I was wondering what should be next...Fallout 1 or 2? Baldur's Gate 1 and 2? Icewind Dale 1 and 2? A JRPG?

Help me choose or recommend one, if you wish, :)

Do you want turn based combat? -> fallout

Do you want real time with pause combat? -> BG/ID
Do you want a combat focused game? -> ID
Do you want an epic story -> BG

All of them are really good, my fav of the list is Baldur's Gate 2.

Hmmm...then probably Baldur's Gate.

The thing is, Planescape: Torment (and partially SMT: Nocturne and Digital Devil Saga) spoiled me about stories. I like avant garde RPGs, and weird, philosophical tales.

No game comes close to PS:T story wise. :/

Baldur's Gate games are your typical high fantasy stuff. Well done but nothing original.

I forgot: If you like the Star Wars universe, you'll love the KotoR games.

It depends. If you are for the reactivity, there is no game like Torment.
If you are for the story, I'd said Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne comes near. It's a dungeon crawler, but destroys a lot of JRPGs cliches, and it's not about saving the world or something like that. Think of something like taking a side in the faction's war in Sigil, and then make it a deep, strategical RPG, where dialog is a valid option (although going pacifist is not possible, you'll have to kill a lot anyway). There is even a great war that rages in all the multiverse, chaos and law alignments (not explicitly so), gods (real life ones, :P) and physic defiant shit.

Witcher.
love that series.

and Legend Of Grimrock 2. definitely.
it honours the great classics of my teenage years.

Two things: I mentioned retro games mostly because my desktop computer is a potatoe (I use my brother's notebook to play PoE) and...how old are you John? :P

I'm 43 :)

but even if you're not, and even if the words "Dungeon Master" don't ring epically in your head, sending shivers of nostalgia down your spine, like they do for me - I think you should try Legend Of Grimrock.
both of them, and the 2nd especially.
it's so good it's just hard to describe really.

and if my toaster can handle it, yours can for sure.
