THIS GAME IS THE REAL DIABLO COMEBACK

Yeah Diablo 3 is more of a casual hack n slash RPG. Its more of a mass-appeal, money grabbing thing.

Indie/non-mainstream games seem to be the only ones to cater to the more hardcore PC gamer.

Eh, How is PoE for the hardcore gamer vs Diablo3 being for the casual ? Second time I've seen someone post this as a "fact" without any supporting opinions or anything.

Couldnt agree more, I mean I know this is the POE forum, and dont get me wrong Im psyched for POE it looks great. But anyone who thinks D3 will be a 'casual' game or a 'failure' really needs to do their homework before parroting the opinions of whiney children as fact.

D3 is about 100 times deeper in terms of gameplay mechanics than D2 and LOD right out of the gate. The characters are better balanced, they have more abilities and more useful ones at that, and the runes add a layer of depth that D2 could only dream of. Also bear in mind this is without any inevitable expansions or DLC. For instance they've already pretty heavily hinted that Necromancers will be returning in a later DLC in some form.

There is no doubt in my mind that D3 will be a roaring success, and anyone who thinks its to 'bright' really needs to watch more gameplay vids. Most of the ones ive seen are in near perpetual darkness, any darker it would be pointless playing it!

To get back to POE though, it looks fantastic, but it does worry me these people posting who IMO have unrealistic expectations of what is pretty much an indie title. They seem to think it will be a direct competitor to D3, it simply won't. Ive been in betas for indie MMOs and games before (most recently Mortal Online) and the road to full release and most importantly 'bug free' release is a long and rocky one indeed. People who think its some D3 killer will most likely be dissapointed and end up bad mouthing the game, which in the long run will do more harm than good.

POE looks fantastic, but its being developed by a tiny team compared to a behemoth like D3 and on a fraction of the budget. Blizzard have probably spent more on lunches during its development than GGG have spent on their whole game.

Thats not to say it will be worse, but just different. You cant expect the same level of polish and completeness as you would from a AAA game. People should understand that before making ridiculous comparisons.

Said much better then I could, or have the patience too. It's what I've been trying to say. PoE will have its niche of a ton of gamers, especially due to its attractive form of aquisition (F2P) but to really say its a Diablo killer is like when they said Age of Conan was a WoW killer,or HellGate London would be. Just no.

never really got into any of the diablo's,played d2 casually for a few days until i discovered Titan Quest which i absolutely loved.I am really excited about this game because it just seems to be a more dark and mature themed hack/slash and the phat loots i have seen posted look great also.
thats not to say it will smash D3 by any means,as a matter of fact i will probably play the shit out of that and this and see which i prefer,hopefully i can get a chance at testing soon and really get down and dirty.

Never played Titant Quest, as I was still playing LoD religiously at that time and there was no room in my life for another arpg. Just checked it out, looks pretty cool - might get it.

And have people not watched recent streams of D3 ?

I agree when they first showed the initials screenshots of D3 like a year or go the color palette looked ridiculous. They obviously toned that down to get a darker/grittier feel out of the game.


Also I think alot of the D3 haters are hopefule D3 beta players and are disenfranchised with Blizard currently because th ey feel they are entitled to play blizzards game, but Blizzard is keeping the population very low - so 99.9% of the people will not be playing the D3 beta.

I think this may be a factor, just whiney babies with a false sense of entitlement.

Yea TQ really is a great game,lots of choices of classes and tons of loot.the company that developed it,Iron Lore,unfortunately went belly up but some devs went ahead and opened up a new company called Crate Entertainment and are currently working on a new game on the TQ engine called Grim Dawn...which looks pretty kick ass as well.

Yah Grim Dawn definetly looks kickass. I'm just really dissapointed with paypal and how they screwed Crate Entertainment over.

I wanted to purchase the legendary package ( that gets you into the alpha ) but can't at this point :\

oh so it was them that they fucked over? and i had no idea they were doing a package to get into alpha either,wow.gonna have to keep a closer eye on that then.

Yah they froze their Paypal account for like 180 days or something because the buyer isn't necessarily getting anything for paying money ( just a promise of a key when the alpha opens and the promise of the full game as well ).

I guess this is against ToS so tghey froze their accounts.

Not the first time they have done this to indie game companies.

And you can buy the legendary package which gets u the game and alpha , the next package which will get you the game and beta and u can just buy the game.

I think legendary is only $40.
