Unset Rings should have their own Affixes.
personally i think that if you add the option of giving a support gem to a ring (in a affix or suffix way or any other way) it should be limited going for 7 link would be able to unbalance altough it would be almost impossible to get the perfect ring it is still possible.
if there would be a base on like every socket ring with like gem is supported by (random support gem on random lvl) not as suffix or prefix but the affix (doesn't need to go up to lvl 20 gems) it would make them alot more wanted and usefull. |

" Yes, a 7L on a ring sounds pretty op. Perhaps make it a unique ring with a special property that it can be exalted to add up to 2 more affixes from the support gem category... Zerrien's Utility Un-Socketed Ring +50 life +15% all resists +Item can be Exalted for 2 affixes from the support gem pool Now it creates only a 3L, as it seems a 2L is pretty boring, but a 4L or more might get controversial. |

" I really can appreciate this idea. It'd be hard to really explain to people is the only problem I can think of. Would be a great Master's crafted mod, almost, though. There are some mechanics issues, though, (does each affix require an affix on the item?) If so, that's 3 Affixes used, with no 'useful' implicit. If they didn't take up an affix slot, (and only the initial mod,) then what if a player would like to Exalt their ring up to 6 Affixes before Et/Ex'ing in an attempt to get 2 quality Affixes. As said before, with a Master, all this could easily be fixed. ("Apply a support gem affix to a crafted ring.") But, it's a really interesting application that also increases the uses of an Exalt. |

Bumping this, after giving an update to the ideas today.
It's scary, it could be OP. But, unset rings are a suitable vessel to begin beefing up the affix system away from 'generic' buffs like Damage and Defense... Into more interesting interactions. Also, remember, my suggested affixes are just that, suggestions. In no way am I saying a 'chance to cast on hit' ring would be 100% balanced out of the gate. But, open your mind to other potential possibilities. This makes unset rings more interesting than just a gem slot. |
