I asked a somewhat similar question and the clear answer is no. Absolutely not. I got static blows at lvl 66 and to begin with it didn't make a big difference because I at that time had such a low dps. Tbh static blows aren't worth it before you have elemental dmg in your lightning arrow, which basically means you need a 5L armor / bow before taking static blows. Some people might disagree, but really the shock effect will wear off to fast, if you use LA + LMP + chain + LoH.

So no =)
If anyone was wondering how does this build work in maps then the answer is that it feels ridiculously overpowered with semi-decent gear (eg. no Wakes). Here is an example I had to record for comparison with a more glass-cannonish Shadow build.

As for leveling it depends. I've kept my gear up-to-date (plus I had my Shadow's gear starting form 50lv) and I was able to facetank nearly everything (save for bosses and some heavy hitters).

So guys, other than the unique bow, any other unique worth hunting for this build?

What other things are u guys using besides frenzy (or ele hit) + lightning arrow. Bear trap what other combos with support gems?

EDIT: I have been experimenting with poison arrow + added chaos damage + increased duration, don't know what else to put to it (concentrated effect doesn't work) or if it is even worth pursuing since ele damage nodes don't boost viper strike's damage.

best supports are skeletons + faster casting + spell totem (for tanking if u want to solo)
another nice thing is just unlinked conductivity - really boost dps vs tanky mobs (with ele resistance) or while making runs with party.
another useful tool is bear trap + added fire damage + culling strike (that way u get lots of dmg)
i got bear trap with q and lvl 18 and 3 of those trap usualy take care of yellow monsters 66+
also they are very nice if u are planning to escape (put totem first, then behind totem traps. so when it falls u got fallback point (especially nice versus fast yellow mobs.
or its just generaly good way to support your kiting.
problem is if you plan to use ele hit you won't have enough room to use all the support(since you will need frenzy + faster attacks as a support thing to buff your attack speed)
I started as a bow marauder, got shocking blows at like 30, and bm at 40 when i had a 4link and could stick life on hit to accomodate it, I suppose i could've reversed the two, but it's working pretty well, doing act3 cruel without any problems at high 40s with 1.5k hp. Not really sure what people are talking about needing a 5link, since LA, LMP, elemental hit, and life on hit in that order is the bread and butter skills. Now I'm crawling towards the ranger side of the tree. But when i aoe a group of mobs half of the bodies on the ground has the shock debuff on it, so I don't regret pushing static blows early. Also trash mobs are dead in 2 volleys tops.

For those using Unique Lioneye's bow... since it has no elemental damage. Wouldn't "Added Fire Damage" be better for the 5L frenzy? I've swapped weapon elemental damage for added fire damage and tooltip shows a huge increase in damage (even though my added fire damage gem is 3 levels lower than weapon elemental!).

You said this build is not flexible because we must use LA. But, let's suppose LA gets nerfed on next weeks, which skill should we use to replace it? Will this build still working well without LA or not?
