Auction.

An auction npc in every village would also be a great add to this game, so you can buy and sell stuff to other players.

I do wonder what they'll do with their trading system. I liked the AH in WoW, and looked like it was going to be the same in D3... until, you-know-what-but-we-do-not-speak-of-it happened.

Well, that would only time show us, if they are going to implement it into the game, which i hope they will do.

I wouldn't really want it, if you think about it, without standard "Currency" this would be REALLY HARD TO IMPLEMENT...
I love virtual brutality so save it for the Mobs...
Maybe have a kind of... barter system or something, where a player puts in an item for auction and then everyone puts in their offers in form of their items (they actually have to put them in until the auction is over). Then the player trading off the item chooses the best offer. Everyone else gets their items back in the mailbox or can collect them back from the auctioneer later.

Point based system:

Hmm magic item 3 effects= 3 points
(# of effects)
1-3 bonus damage = 2 points
(average bonus damage)
Elemental damage effect 10% chance= 12 points
(Elemental effects should be 2 since it is elemental and effect and + 1 per % chance of activation)
base item is 2 handed weapon= 1 point
(It takes away the option of a shield or another weapon)
So the point value of a 3 magical effect Great Sword of this nature would be: 18 points! Each Currency gem counts as 1 point... eh the devs should figure this out!

The idea totally doesn't work, since with the current item system 3 magic properties could mean the most valuable item in the game (max rolls on damage prefix and suffix (using D2 terms) and attack speed) as well as the biggest crap that noone needs (any random enhancements).

Also each currency item will have different values and those will also change over time (unless they do something like straight up combine of D2 runes, that I haven't heared of).

I'm sure whatever it is... GGG will do a good job. So far they've introduced some innovative systems and I expect this one is not going to be an exception.

AND YOU IGNORED MY LAST SECTION! I said the devs should figure it out, at least it was an idea rather than just criticism, your idea was to complain about an idea, I knew it wouldn't work exactly like that which is why I said what I said, it is a step in the right direction if you want an auction... I couldn't care less if: IT WERE IMPLEMENTED CORRECTLY!

Please don't take it personally, but when I see ideas that cannot work I feel like saying something. How is a non-working idea a step in the right direction?

And your suggestion was for devs to figure it out? I don't see how that is more useful than what I said (at least I provided some valid arguments).
