The -15% exp penalty is obnoxiously bad outdated design.

difficulty =/= XP loose

in which world do ya life guys, the difficulty isnt increased from loosing XP, difficulty sticks to the gamemechanics

XP loose is only a punishment, and you shouldnt get punished in this way by playing a computergame in your spare time

(why are HC people care about XP Loose and take a part in this discussion? stupid?)

at least i dont like to die at all, i would say i hate dying but dying with my 70 bitch

--- and loosing 15% results in farming always the same stupid shit ----

ACT 1 > LEDGE

ACT 2 > FELLSHRINE

ACT 3 > DOCKS

EVEN D3 HAD MORE VARATION IN FARMING !!! (and that means a lot oO)

1. No, it's not, no one is claiming it is. But it does make the game more challenging in an indirect way. It challenges you to build more carefully and play more conservatively or you'll face steep penalties. In that sense it adds a challenge. If you play recklessly and thoughtlessly you'll die constantly and will not progress.

2. I'd also add:
Act 1 - Coves
Act 2 - Pyramid
Plus of course the endgame allows for unlimited variety in grinding.

its no challenge, you have either no other way not playing carefully and taking a build with tons of def, may youre doing coves, pyramids is a too high risk with 1000 of totems and if youre having no perfect gear (which means hour by hour playing every day and hoping on dropluck as well) forget it

Absolute rubbish. You can farm anywhere its just some spots are more favoured (act 3 ring a bell?). I don't remember D3 having any end game maps to go for neither...

You are calling others stupid yet you are the one who comes across as mentally challenged. Did it not occur to you that some hardcore players may also play or want to play in the future in softcore? Just because they are playing a hardcore character now does not mean that will also be the case.

No the XP penatly maybe does not make the game more difficult it just punishes bad play. Is it wrong that dare I say it, people in the highest difficulty in the game should learn how to play?

I am just going to have ignore these threads for a while and hope D3/WoW can draw you lot back..

edit: also for people wanting to do silly or more fun builds there is the option of just running through normal, no one says you have to move to higher difficulties. Once better gear has been farmed and hopefully trading picks up a bit then better gear will lead to a wider variety of builds been viable for higher difficulties.

What xp-loss does, makes it so people are more careful about dying (since you have something to lose aka risking something).

It changes your playstyle to what it otherwise would have been without penalty.

If there were no xp-penalty at all, everyone would make glasscannon-builds without health, resistances, defences and primarily focus on dps-improving passives.

The xp-penalty is there for the player so he/she has to make an important choice, should i sacrifice more damage for less survivability or vice versa at some points in the tree.

sry for my bad Englisch first.

I can life with the 7.5% in Cruel but i cant life with those 15% in Merci.

i am a very careful player, i died arround 10 Times until now im 56 right now. (yeah i know the HC League will laugh now^^)

Aswell i have a very tanky Char, picked up all Resistence and Health nodes, nothing like a glascanon.

But sometimes you are facing some situations, where you cant escape, even when you play very carfully and you will die.

For me im fine with this penalty itself, but for my opinion 15% are to much. i would be fine if the made 5% loss in Cruel and 10% loss in Merci.

just my 5 Cents and have a good one.
everybody speakin of choices between dmg and survival and so other shit on builds

you have no fucking choice in your builds, survival or making zero progress, cause 15% is too high loss at high level youll never bring in with little more dmgnodes

and only why there is an punishment people play carefully? thats the same rubbish, i dont want to die in any way
I'm currently lvl 71...cold witch with 2,5K ES and CI (=1 hp!) and not capped res at all, in fact i'm negative on some...and yet i still get by...
Your excuses are not valid...either you play right, tactically that is...or you get your resistances/armor/evas in place..
If you die, it's YOUR fault, not the games...(excluding DC's and so forth ofc)

So what? Why does it matter why you die?

Why should I be punished for trying to have fun in a game?

Games, I thought, were meant to be enjoyed.

If you aren't enjoying it, why do you continue to play? where is it statet that the game should meet everyone's needs?
