Certain trees got dumped on badly. They lost alot of life nodes that they used to have that helped big time. There's barely any life in the Ranger/Shadow trees if you didn't notice, and Bow Characters will struggle heavily if they don't go to the Scion Life Wheel.


I expect Life Witches to be pretty much dead btw with the changes to their tree also. Duelists, Maras, and Templars aren't affected too heavily by the life changes.


I don't think you actually understand what has happened.

Basically, the expected amount of life you will have is cut down by at least 50-75%+ from the tree. Most like 200+ will not be a standard anymore, at least 130-160%.
I'm really glad i've levelled a templar, becuase max block/spellblock is the way to go now.

If you take every single life node possible you end up with roughly 130ish as a Bow Char (sticking to the right side of the tree without going too far). And that's with spending like 104 points. SC viable, but not HC viable in the slightest. I'd say you'd probably need about 150% to be where you were at before.

Problem is that because of the lower life values on the nodes, you have to spend more passive points to get to 150%; I had to pick up nodes I normally don't pick up (Herbalism, for real) just to reach what I would consider an ok amount of life.


Life builds became alot more point inefficient, especially those who are on the right side of the tree. Scion's basically have to take the life wheel now if they don't go into the Mara Tree, same with Duelists. Templar absolutely has to go into the Mara Tree for life if they build for Life.
I share everyone else concerns over the life nodes.
GGG has to think about something more than a skill reset: this is not only "I pick now this skill instead of that other" but a total recalculation of the base life values + new life nodes...one mistake and you need 40 regrets...meh

Plus...what about bandits quests? are we forced to spend another 60 regrets to respec them too?

I totally agree with these points. I just made a quick bow build with the new tree and only end up with 100% increased life. That is really not allot! I do get 111 flat life from the tree that might even it out at bit? Have to make a calculation to see how much life I end it if all my gear has at least 50 life.

I also really hope they offer a respec of the bandit quests, so many regrets to spend when you want to change to CI or something(which should be really viable now).

But as Chris said its a preliminary tree so we'll see how it looks like after the patch.

Edit: found them. Eh, I don't like the new tree. I think they are changing way too much in these tree iterations, not a single build of mine will survive these changes. Either it's the displacement of shield nodes, decrease of %res from shield passives, less aura reservation, less max resist nodes...it just sucks.


But at least this time it's six months until the next reset.
