[Official] WINE info thread

Having performance issues as well, game literally freezes when i try to attack a pack, hoping for a fix soon, PoE has become unplayable for me((

UPD: nosound seems to fix this, but being unable to hear my loot filter is kinda meh

Update: my ranger is not playable. Every time I kill something, the fps goes below 1 (roughly 1-3 seconds per frame).
For any monster, even with all auras/heralds off, just using Frenzy. Killing a group means shooting into a frozen screen and hoping I got all of them... then the fps goes above 30 after showing me 3-4 images each ~2 seconds apart.
This was running more or less smoothly (sometimes down to 10-15 fps) before the patch.

It's not that bad with the RF build I've been testing with for my previous post... still goes down to 8-10 fps where it was maybe 20 before.

Interestingly my summoner (5 Spectres + 10 Zombies) works: more laggy now when there's tons of action (5-10 fps), but still playable since minions do their work on the server despite me lagging about.

Also tried an Ice Nova build now: mostly playable, but when I got to a shock shrine it was quite a challenging game of "click the shrine while trying to evade monsters at 1 fps".

So GGG... ya dun goofed.

edit: thanks to the poster above for the reminder. Just tried -nosound and I have my performance back!
Too bad about the audio, I like both the atmosphere and the utility... but at least it's playable again.

edit2: ran a map with the ranger... performance is worse than before the patch. Roughly 60-70% of previous fps, so still playable.

edit3: OK, it heavily depends on the map. Wasteland is fine, but Excavation and Church Ruins are 20 fps when running but 3-5 fps when there's action (single player Frenzy ranger). Not fun.

regen bug still remains, my game also stutters for 500ms every 2 seconds or so with this patch (this didnt happen in 2.2)
thx ggg xDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
The patch seems to have fixed the CPU load and missing sound events, however, switching between zones is horribly slow now. Other than that, performance is pretty good. Pretty steady fps, no nasty drops to single figures in fights or at shrines.
2.3.0b didn't make a noticeable change for me (wine version is set to Win7). Boss fights quite often involve dying now :\

Congrats! From what I've seen on my friends slightly weaker setup (compared to mine), this is pretty much the behaviour on Windows: smooth playing after preloading. Assuming with "slow" you mean 20-30 sec.
Mind sharing any nondefault details about your winecfg?

"We're looking into it, but please know we don't support Linux, so don't expect miracles!"

It's really disappointing because these issues didn't exist prior to 2.2, and they seem worse now. I may have to skip this League and potentially any future Leagues if performance continues to decline.
Does anyone happen to know what libs/dlls are required for sound in POE on a fresh Wine bottle?
I'm running Wine on FreeBSD and the included libs are pretty bare-bones, so I'm used to having to add them according to my games' needs (not only through winetricks, but through my distros package manager).

I just can't pin-point which ones are required for POE sound.
This might not even be an issue in Wine under Linux.

Also, with 2.3 I'm getting pretty solid fps and no stuttering (after disabling glsl).
I just can't get sound working (getting the 'no device detected' message).
Earlier today I failed the labyrinth on Normal 4 times with a lvl 55 char (yes, it shouldn't be hard at all), with frame times staying between 2k and 3k ms at the final Izaro fight due to effects.
Couldn't always predict where he's going to be in two seconds and click there to attack him, so he and the traps downed me after ~60 seconds when my flasks were empty.

It seems there are issues with PoE possibly being compiled in VC2015, so I tried this fix (hope it's OK to link to the official wine bug tracker here, of course when you download stuff it's at your own risk)
https://www.winehq.org/pipermail/wine-bugs/2015-November/428425.html

Also discussed in this thread:
https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1595141/page/1

Quite a performance boost for me, almost up to 2.2 quality. Haven't tried yet with sound back on.
Hope this helps other too.

I assume you've checked through the results at wineHQ? Many have to make a audio vs. performance tradeoff (I didn't until yesterday).

For me disabling GLSL (on an AMD card) gives:
Unable to create vertex shader
Requested audio format unsupported
