Yeah I sent chris an email early in CBT warning of this very issue; once the game goes live, you're going to need authentication.

"Chris I had asked you about mobile authentication on your last impromptu Q&A you did last Sunday. You had told me that It is something you guys are looking at. However I want to take this one step further once you guys get the resources."

Authentication essentially prevents your CS team from dealing with hacks. It should be industry standard to have authentication service on a game that can have traded items. You can develop your own authentication service and set it up for mobile phone, or you can use the google method that GW2 uses (also suggested by another user).

I can understand dsync, I understand lag, I understand servers going down (as a result of me understanding i wont touch HC till its fixed); what I dont understand is the decision to launch without authentication. That is essentially the only bonehead rushed decision that I've seen on the part of GGG.

I havent been hacked yet, but the thought of it occurring and that GGG actually cant deal with it, scares the shit out of me. All the hours I put in? for nothing if I get hacked. And lets please not start with the "oh scan your computer, use different passwords derpy derp" argument. Everyone knows to scan their machines, to not visit shady porn sites, to not use repeat passwords etc. People still get hacked. Government websites still get hacked, personal information still gets hacked, Everyone without a computer sciences degree, or has advanced knowledge of hacking counter measures, can be hacked. People are going to get hacked. People are also going to get cyber attacked (as you yourselves have experienced).

So why let people? put an authenticator out, save your CS team time, save A LOT of rage by the user base. Everyone wins, the hackers lose. This should be up there in priorities with server stability. I know authenticators still CAN be hacked, but as blizzard has shown, they havent had a single record of a hack occuring on an account that has an authenticator. Across 3 games.

Your account is no longer stolen if you have created a new password and are able to log in. What happened was that someone who accidentally logged into your account with the queuing bug last week probably had a miniature devil spawn over their shoulder and decided to mess with you. Well hopefully you can be reset with your chars and gear.
