Is GGG getting a pass on development issues? If so is that fair?
" I'm curious as what part of desync has been addressed at all since the game was beta released, as your text implies something has been done at one point and I can't recall such an instance. The OP is right, the company and the game are absolutely fantastic but it seems they just turn a blind eye to some issues which are crippling, whether it be to overwhelming resource costs or time commitments as might be the case. I don't think it's wise for them, and they're definitely hurting themselves. my evasion is so high i only insta rip sometimes ----- Bug Fixes: People were using cyclone for actual melee builds, so we nerfed it and made blade vortex. Also, we went ahead and made cyclone great for CoC casters while we were at it. Last edited by Legatus1982#1658 on Apr 2, 2014, 1:55:36 PM

Well the thing is with most people who play this game, it gives them a sort of 'hardcore hipster' feeling because they're playing the 'harder' game that most people find too 'difficult', and with this attitude it is really no surprise that the players GGG manage to retain turn a blind eye to every single issue. It basically comes down to the elitist attitude.

" This is gold. My short version of that is "PoE complex". |
|
" From memory i remember only 1 patch that did int reduced my FPS issues but helped them instead, (not taking into account the patches that had nothing to do with performance.) and i am pretty sure this was when they had someone actually working on performance sadly he left go pursuit other dreams, and ggg is doing a poor job at replacing him, not that anyone can blame them must be hard to find someone so specific were they are located. Dsync is worst for alot of people go read forum after each patch and you will see some patches big patches ruin peoples game and they just leave, and it doesn't seem to affect some, hard to say only fact is people are have and will be leaving poe because of this ishue until it is less...Vissible, this is a fact. hit me up @sarrow lets have fun :D

From their perspective they probably consider themselves quite successful reinforcing the choices they've made for the game. They probably view feedback criticism threads as vocal minority and dismiss it to some degree. So yes they do get a pass because their poor development decisions have impunity as they answer to no one and as long as enough people support to fund their operation they can then see that as support for the choices they make.
The kind of valid criticism like the OP and many other should be cause enough for concern regardless of their defending the poor choices with phrases like this game is made for us and it's for hardcore players etc. Wrong is wrong and there is no way to hold them accountable due to their profit structure so in the end it's want and shit. " Which is funny because PoE is actually a very easy game. |

" The way to hold them accountable would be to stop playing and supporting the game with funding. Unfortunately as the game IS a very good game and the company is also great, I'd hate to see something like that happen. I feel POE is much better than D3 and other ARPG games, but the desync issues, alt-f4 design, and several other design decisions that make no sense are getting a pass because of that. I don't think GGG realizes how much better the game would be and how much resulting extra support they'd get if they just finally bit the bullet and fixed these big issues. my evasion is so high i only insta rip sometimes

" In Open Beta they made it resync when the client says your character is more then X distance away from where the server says your character was stunned. It's not a game changing improvement, I'll agree to that and I'll also agree it doesn't really resolve desync issues too. It improves a very narrow/specific situation though. " Maybe... but then they made places like act3x with narrow hallways, doors, hedgemaze, objects all over the ground and giving everything extremely fast movement. They made more and more mobs like the shield charge exile, leap slam exile, cyclone exile, summoner exile. Plus mobs like the devourers, avian wretch's, frogs, etc... take your pick here. For every tiny little step forward they made a giant sprint backward. Same thing with graphics. One small change that maybe added a single digit number to their framerate... followed by shocked ground, blood rain, act3x rain, burning ground, corrupted areas, fracture, etc... I don't think its quite a pass as much as I think that those who are left here are jaded and cynical and just no longer care at this point ( I know I've long stopped thinking they will fix any of the issues). The game launched to 60k people per day playing and now its a fraction of that with the average playtime of new people being at most a week (where in early beta we would be and be hooked enough to stay). Most people just walk back out the door without saying a single word to ggg anymore. Last edited by Jiero#2499 on Apr 2, 2014, 2:35:08 PM

" I do remember that actually. I wonder when /oos was added? Though these certainly aren't good enough in my opinion, they help alleviate it a bit. my evasion is so high i only insta rip sometimes
