Is GGG getting a pass on development issues? If so is that fair?

Full Disclosure: I lurk the forums everyday while I'm working, but as far as actually playing I'm fairly burned out, and haven't logged in since just after the new leagues launched. I'm not angry or trolling, I'm just actually wondering if GGG can bring me(and I'm sure others like me) back based on what they work on in the NEAR future. I'm burned out on some mechanics and there is too much competition for my time right now. Regardless I wish GGG the best, and have supported them for some time now.

My concern or question really centers on one key issue. Does GGG's fairly open strategy with it's player base, and or the F2P model, excuse developmental/balance issues?

I ask because it seems like GGG has been given a grace period unlike any game I've ever seen. There are significant issues that have been going on in some cases many months or years. The fundamental question I'm asking is, "Is this OK?" I've never heard a developer saying "we know it's an issue, but it may be years before its resolved." It's pretty fascinating, you would think the players would lose their minds, but no so. For the most part the response is pretty meh, when I would think it's pitchfork time.

I'm going to hit on two right now, but there are others. I was trying to keep this post as least epic as possible.

The first issue is around Desync. Certainly not a new topic, and it has been beaten to death. What I would really like to know, and more importantly, if the playerbase is literally OK with nothing been done at all?

If GGG were to say that they were too locked in with game mechanics around accuracy and dodge, and that the net code, while poorly done, is too large or expensive a project to fix due to their size and F2P model, would that be OK? If they came out and said that desync will never be fixed or improved, is that a fair/logical decision to come to?

The second is on graphical related issues. Namely the inability to have options to improve gameplay experience, or simply to avoid crashing yourself or others simply by choosing a build/or skill. Once again, not a new topic, but still, sadly one that has no light at the end of the tunnel. Again if GGG said that due to their budget, or it would take a few years to fix, or maybe never fixed at all, would this be OK?

To clarify there are many other concerns like solo balance, trade systems, crafting, loot/rng gates, snapshotting, RMT, item balance, ect.. but I didn't want to dive deeper as the core concern remains the same.

TL:DR = Does GGG get a pass on game issues simply due to their size and F2P model? If some major concerns are never fully addressed, is that OK because the game is "Free?"

Wasn't just about desync, if you actually read the whole thing. Nor was it even the point of the post.

And I am playing something else. Thanks!

Why on earth would you ASSUME there is nothing being done at all?

There has already been drastic improvements to the efficiency of certain skills and areas. Anyone who played early versions of areas like the ship graveyeard will know what I mean. Skills need a lot of work still. Quite visually messy in some cases, and there does seem to be drastic differences in how the game performs on different systems, but again, it isn't like it hasn't gotten dramatically better since the early stages of development. There is no reason to think it won't continue to improve...

No game gets a free pass. Period.
If I had any sign that GGG were just ignoring issues ( other than those who insist instant gratification in all aspects of life is reasonable to expect ), I would walk away from the game in an instant.

Have you removed Asus ROG/GameFirst yet?
How long have you played the game that you think nothing at all has been done at all about desync or graphical issues? I'm genuinely curious, since that was some of their big changes going from beta->release, especially the graphical issues.

first of all,you want them to bring you back, meaning you are not over it.i get that you have several hours to express your opinion.

What i dont understand is your inability to justify what kept you those years here.

You pose indirect questions to developers by treating your hearing crowd as idiots.

This thread is a cover-up qq to justify your departure out of it.

Thus said i wont answer any further to this mind-degrading post.

Have fun.
Bye bye desync!

Yes, the situation is now unbelievably worse. Big change, I agree.
Yeah, I think they get a pass. I gave them a pass when the game was still termed beta, but not so much now.

The desync issue, from how I understand it, is a combination of the predictive algo not correctly predicting what the server actually does, as well as some cost saving methods that minimizes the comms with the server, conserving bandwidth. Personally, I'd rather deal with input lag than a bad predictive algo. At least then, what I see is what I get. But to do so, you have to strip the algo, and increase the server communications. Judging by how out of sync you can get, communicating all the info would be significantly higher than the trickle they're using now, which increases GGG's cost overhead.

So, how do I feel about it? I think they're profitable now, and should start trying to remedy this problem. If they can, builds that use mobility for survivability will become more viable, which in turn leads to a healthier, more balanced game. Even if they keep the algo, we know they can transmit more state info due to the existence of the /oos command. I'd like to see the performance gains of more state info transmitted, even if it costs them more to run their game. Surely there's a happier medium between bandwidth costs and desync in there somewhere.

Like I said, I can understand the problems, as well as cost saving approaches, being a necessary evil when they were a company in the hole with a beta game. That situation has changed.

As to the graphical issues, my builds are too flashy for pub generally, and I'm fine with that. It is a bit of a design failing, just not one that really affects me.

No. Calm down. Learn to enjoy losing.
They're not "getting a pass". They've worked on it and have it where they want it. The game is playable by enough people to support it. They don't need to do anything more than that.

Just because you don't like it, doesn't mean they have to change.
