Would you pay to have GGG focus exclusively on fixing the game issues but no new content?

@OP, I would pay GGG for what they have already done! And i did.

Im pretty sure if unreal engine was available to use way back at the start of PoEs development it would have been considered.

Unreal Engine 3
"Available for Licensees : March 2004"

I think Russel was talking about the financial availability. Most of the original development team had to borrow from family to get this started.

I couldn't imagine asking my mom for 20k to put towards purchasing a license for a game engine.

Besides the learning curve of designing your own far outweighs using someone else's.

You're right on the first point. Dead wrong on the second. An engine will come with a SDK, which vastly increases time spent on actual production and decreases time on building the engine from scratch.

Yep let's just go ahead and ignore the fact that certain builds are substantially more or less prone to desync regardless of caution, and not worry about the issue for now because YOUR build happens to be ones that is less prone. (And don't even try to claim you only desync once every 5 hours with a desync heavy skill).

Of course it would be faster using a already designed engine. But they had great hopes of building their own, not realizing how massive of a undertaking it is. i'm sure they'll find another optimizer. We just have to be patient.

I just hope they learned from the mistake of hiring the last one, and bind the new one to a contract.

Nice idea in theory but damn near impossible to do at this late stage. You see GGG decided at the beginning with the 4 persons who founded the company that there was no free or affordable game engine for their arpg so they created their own from scratch. Their decision back then is now coming back to bite them and the result is what we see today in PoE, frequent desyncs, rubber-banding in a feeble attempt to keep the server and client on the same page (simulations wise), animation stuttering from too many effects trying to work simultaneously, and many other graphics glitches and anomalies. This was discussed in a recent thread (http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/835719) and Russell of GGG posted that if a move to another graphics game engine such as the Unreal Engine was contemplated it would probably take 3+ years to convert over to it. So even if GGG did a Crowdfunding to raise the financial capital necessary to convert to a better engine the physical time requirements for their dev team would be prohibitive. So GGG is stuck between a rock and a hard place with their early choice to make their own arpg game engine and all who play PoE are made to suffer.

Necessity may be the mother of invention, but poor QoP in PoE is the father of frustration.

i would totally put 10$ every month if all of them went in to game optimization.

Note also - I almost play on a toaster/potato. Over the weekend I made a "major purchase" and spent $100 USD on an SSD to put into my Core2Duo @ 3.07 (OC of stock 2.6) w/ 4GB DDR2 RAM + Radeon HD4850. I play the game, in medium-high settings, and get 20-ish FPS in full parties (sometimes with two summoners) and 60 FPS solo. After the SSD upgrade any in-play loading (skeleton summoning, strong box opening, Dominus transitions) is hardly noticeable, such a difference that I still have not fully adjusted my play to it. My average ping is 60, yes I spike from time to time, and yes I have periods where there is no communication but my client stays active (I call it "flatline ping", I attribute it to my ISP), but for 90% or more of my play time I average 60. There can't be that many technical issues for someone with a clean, modern, gaming system and decent network, there just can't.

Can you pop out videos for that?

I've got a 7670M Radeon, A6 quad core 1.5 with turbo to 2.4 GHz CPU, 4 GB RAM.
I could play on max setting when I started playing PoE almost a year ago, as the time passed/patches got implemented, I had to lower settings accordingly.
To a level when I've set Texture Quality on 8 and still had FPS drops when some spells are cast, and party play is horrible obviously.
If I recall correctly, that happened around release.

Drivers are up to date and everything else is fine.

My performance/FPS stability in other games is the same, you can check my GPU's specs here:

You can compare our cards here:

You can now (maybe) realize why have I decided to respond to your post.

You play on a laptop, I play on a desktop. Your video card is a mobile version, mine is not. You have more cores, but none as fast as mine, clock speed matters.

You are trying to play on max settings, I am not. I find the game looks great and is fully playable on medium to medium high settings in some areas with lower settings in others (Shadows, for instance, I don't really need them, not the class, the video option).

Is your OS 32 or 64 bit?

To weigh in on this: Yes, I would absolutely put a significant amount into the game to have QoL issues be the prime focus.

For me, and a lot of others I'm sure, the sheer amount of content thats been added since release is more than enough to keep me trying new things for years to come. My problem is that the game itself is not very ergonomic at times.

I'm not talking about the obvious stuff like trade updates, or desync, or whatever the FoTM gripe happens to be. Simple, little things like a loot filter (!), not losing chat from loading areas, more graphics options (!!!), etc.

Make my life in Wraeclast easier, please. My plate is spilling over, I need a better fork.
