Thanks, the potential was there...but...

There’s your false assumption (don't worry, I thought the same a while back). Auction House 3 and Path of Trade are new types of ARPGs, that don't fall into loot finding games, but loot trading games (or deal finding, if you prefer).

Diablo2 is trading centered too if you want to have the endgame gear. So both PoE and D3 are NOT the """""new""""" loot trading games. D2 probably was

You're free to prove me wrong ofc: go to D2 and make an Enigma from drops!

No its not, because it wasn't specifically designed around a global economy, like D3 and PoE. Just having some items really rare, doesn't mean its "centered around trading".

Centered around trading is when most of players have problems progressing, unless they trade -> D3 & PoE

This game was in close beta, in open beta.. 2 years, right? Oh how long? Was in that days complainings about loot, crafting, rage quits? If yes, nothing is gonna change in the future then imo. So we have to adapt to current settings or find other game.
If I dont reply to you - I dont give a flying duck about your opinion

If you dont reply to me - I dont care either because I dont come back to see who replied to me

But that's the thing.

It's not that hard to progress to piety/dom in merc. You didn't just blow through the game in D2, you had to farm areas a number times over to do nightmare and them same for hell.

There are "some" items very rare in D2 and PoE. Literally gear you need to farm piety trade is worth 1 alch to 5 chaos max per slot.

You feel that you need to trade because it's faster to drop an alch for a leveling item the actually find it yourself because of time opportunity. There's literally nothing you can do to fix this because high level players have stockpiles of decent gear in their stashes that I will literally trade away for a player that needs it for an alch.

Why do people have to taint their valid feedback by saying that the game will die because it doesn't cater to their wishes?
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

Was there a penalty for over-leveling in Diablo 2?

Is there a difference between 'would need' and 'would like' and 'total perfection'? Did Diablo generally drop you 'likeable' things as you travelled and farmed, or did it drop you 'just enough for what you need', and how often 'on the way' would it drop you things that you felt were 'perfect' for your build?

The time ratios are important here. Game fluidity is also important here.

How long did it take to buy likeable leveling items in Diablo 2 versus how long did it take to farm likeable leveling items in Diablo 2.

How long does it take to buy likeable leveling items in PoE versus how long does it take to farm likeable leveling items in PoE.

To which, was 'the journey' most of the game in Diablo 2, to which end-game gear was less 'necessary'

And, in PoE, is 'the journey' most of the game, or is PoE's end-game 'most' of the entire game, meaning PoE has less 'necessity' for leveling gear and greater 'necessity' for end-game gear - and therefore a rarity based 'greater' trade 'requirement'?

I know, it's infuriating isn't it. Some posters just can't post without some meaningless jibe-related nonsense one-liners attached can they :(

Now that I'm experienced at the game, I actually like the difficulty that comes from playing self-found. But back then when I was a noob, I resorted to trading, because I got stuck, if not in Cruel then in Merc for sure. Like many newbs get stuck and they buy not only gear but even progress (boss kills, full act clears, etc).

Then there is the question of gems = skills. Since not all characters get all skills, you have to trade for some - or wait indefinitely for it to drop. Goes the same for flasks like granite - quite rare stuff, but essential for almost everybody.

I would also love to "craft" more gear while levelling, but if you get 10 chaos drop from Act1 Normal to Act3 Merc, consider yourself lucky. (speaking for Dom/Nem, without quantity)

Also endgame is not playable without trading, unless you are grinding 24/7 for chaos/alc/chisel to roll maps (and endgame is the most fun part of PoE)

PoE is stingy with everything because is designed around trading. Blizz forced players into trade, because they cashed in on each RMAH transaction, GGG is forcing because they think trading creates a community (= more mtx sales). Id say it mostly creates greedy scamming hores, but that's just my personal (biased) opinion...

It would be nice if PoE had something like Runes or Jewels to find.

I have to agree that there isn't a lot of interesting stuff to find besides uniques/orbs.

Ya I kinda like this idea better than just increasing drop rates. Animated Guardian has this effect with items, giving them a second purpose makes them interesting again.

Spoiler
I enjoyed this game for the few weeks I played, but find it a worse grind than D2 ever was, I am not finding gear.

Played for 4 hours tonight, found a few rares, most blue, rare and purple monsters drop NOTHING!!

Do epics exist? I have been chugging along enjoying the game somewhat, but this finding no loot thing has finally got me, as the whole purpose is to find loot, whether you are max lvl or lvl 1.

I had to go back to D3 and see what an item looks like when it drops!!!

Seriously, its a loot game, make the loot DROP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This game will die a horrible death soon if nothing changes, and with RoS around the corner, it will be sooner than expected I guess. Which is a little sad, because this game is very well made except for loot that never drops.

Cheers

*some fixes to OP*

Played for "few weeks" (join date 26-01-2014; few weeks, umhm), got lvl36 and lvl33 characters (not the easiest classes to begin with btw)
No Soul Taker dropped for me from Gneiss!!
Game is broken, will die in a horrible death soon!!

*end of fixes*

(smth like this?
Sure... Valuable feedback)
