Dominus is badly implemented

On an old PC I owned, I had terrible framerate drop in Titan Quest in the last level, under the mountain with the glowing lava fires. Every time one of those fires came on screen, my fps would drop through the floor. My semi-uneducated guess was that the pixel shaders on my graphics card weren't up to the task. When I finally replaced that card with something newer, I had no problems at all - not even a whisper of a slowdown in that area.

I would take a good look at the specs of video cards that suffer in the rain and look for certain things like a diminutive number of pixel shaders, being short-changed on the number of pipelines, bus width etc. Not all video cards with the same name are created equal. My Radeon 7870 w/ 2GB DDR5 RAM doesn't even blink in the rain. In fact, it chews up the entire game and begs for more.

Now, as for the actual fight itself... it's a multiplayer game. Use that fact to your advantage.

And if the rain is too complicated to figure out, please stay away from games like Tera where it is required that you understand every bizarre dungeon mechanic or you will get kicked from the party. It is painfully obvious within the first couple of minutes that you do not understand what to do, so you cannot simply bluff your way through. The community expects you to have watched youtube videos, read guides and to know your exact role in each and every dungeon. In comparison, the rain is comically obvious and inconsequential (hardcore aside, of course).

Yeah i even think that the dominus fight would be much better if there was no second form. Just increase hp and maybe add a cool new attack.

I have to agree with OP on his general point.

From a perspective of someone who plays exclusively HC and usually pure self-found, Cruel Dominus takes a lot of fun out of leveling new characters as the fight forces you to grind A3C for levels and gear - especially if you are trying to actually play a non-cookie cutter build from the earlyish game without leveling it all the way to end-game using easier/cheesier build and then respeccing.

The hurdle cruel Dominus presents also has the effect of pretty much obsoleting all the content right up to the lattter half or so of A2M due to you already overleveling and somewhat overgearing every zone.

Yeah i think it would be a good idea if merciless dominus first time kill on an account unlocked the ability to switch difficulties when you wanted on future characters.

About the PC stuff. I wouldn't complain if the game overall lagged on my computer because obviously it would mean that it's insufficient. But how come, that I play the game since CB, never ever having a performance issue (+30fps) and all of sudden in dominus fight I get SINGLE DIGIT fps or sometimes seconds per frame. I gave up on fighting dominus, I just tag along a decent party for that one and try to die less then 3 times, because usually when I die I don't even know/see what happened.

I don't think you should, spirit barrage is nothing with high spell block, but ToG is the one-shot desync attack.

I think ES based characters (that don't use AA or Saffell's) should use Ratpith Globe against first form dominus - the spirit barrage, if it's giving them a hard time.
