HELP Game won't install "Checking Resources" for 14 hours now
Update bump.
Latest attempt with the new version is still stuck at "checking resources" so I'm going to shut it down for today. I'll check back later for any new solutions or official updates on this problem. |

I have the same issue here at school, It just says it is checking resources, however this past weekend I went home and got on fine. My other games such as WoW D3 and all my steam games run fine here at school besides PoE and Lotro. I have read many forums and searched the internet for a solution to this problem and the most I got out of it is to contact your ISP. Unfortunately for me at school this isn't an option. but I hope you have that chance are able to find a fix. Sorry I don't have any definite answer. I haven't found one as it seems this problem is rare. But I can assure you it has little to do with the game and more so do to with the current connection you have. So try throwing stones at your ISP

" Well I just find it pretty hard to believe that an entire city of thousands and thousands of people would be unable to install PoE just due to Time Warner Cable (my ISP) who has a service monopoly in this area. Sadly even if it was them trying to get them to take action on this matter would be pretty laughable for them. They would just tell me to contact the company who made the game or best case scenario say they'll "look into it" and then do absolutely nothing. Either way it's a waste of time on my part to persue that route. Let's say it was the ISP though... what exactly are they doing? That part I still don't understand. Someone said in another thread that they could have an "old version of the installer client that they have cached" and that's why I keep getting a bad installer when I try to download it? The latest patch notes pop up though... So that doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me and also more importantly it has never happened with any other game before this so it's unlikely they would drop the ball ONLY with PoE the entire 10 years I been with them. I guess I'm just not understanding why this isn't a very simple process in the day and age of torrents. I should just be able to join an official GGG torrent, download the latest game version, and fire off a double click. Not sure I understand what's going on with this particular method of installation or with the "checking resources" process which IMO is just plain odd. I dunno usually these things work out. I'm not alone in having this problem so hopefully it gets someones attention. Betas have issues I know that so I'm not complaining. I just want it to be recognized and patched don the road so eventually I'll get a chance at it. |

bump still haven't read a solution for this or an official acknowledgement that it's a bug with the installer being worked on.

I am most certainly this is a file still on your computer, and am almost sure if you re-formatted it would confirm what I have thought.
I would say keep looking un-install the game/hidden files/and search for more... I know most people don't wish to re-format so I am trying to help prevent that final retort. Documents/my games? hidden folder delete it and poe ... un-install previous download... then check C: or your primary drive for related missed files? I do hope you figure this out ... I feel I am failing you. EDIT: I can also confirm it's not the installer .. I too had your same problem and it stumped me a few days until I read about hidden folders for POE ... then I knew what it was. I had to go into folder options and select "show hidden folder" then delete the patch related folder and VIOLA!! success! I hope you solve this problem if not pm me and maybe I can skype to help you out or vent? email etc.. Hope to help! Last edited by evanpoe#7586 on Feb 5, 2013, 8:22:25 PM

I was planning on doing a clean sweep of the old files and trying again soon I'll keep you posted on if it worked or not. Just to be clear on the locations I'm looking in after I hit "show hidden files"
First I'm going to make sure it's uninstalled (of course) Then I'm going to run ccleaner then... looking for hidden folders in the following locations. Documents/Games (delete anything PoE related) Search C: drive for hidden PoE folders? Once I'm sure it's totally clean. Download the latest installer Disable Kaspersky AV and Windows firewall Run the installer .msi file "As Administrator" "In compatibility for Windows XP" This is the point I usually get stuck at... I'll try it again and let you know if all that looks correct. |
