HELP Game won't install "Checking Resources" for 14 hours now

Bump. Anything I can do aside from deleteing the bad folder and ensuring both AV and windows firewall are disabled. (Sidenote I have no other firweall blocking the connection and my internet is wired so no router to deal with forgot to mention that).

Does the changing client.txt file mean it's working despite the program itself still being stuck on "checking resources"?
Here's something funky. Two PC gamers here at my house on the same network both playing the open beta and planning on playing release. Right now one of us (me) is updating and the other one keeps getting stuck on "Checking Resources".

Near the end of the CB we were playing together. Both our PC's are running on the same router/network.

Were you both able to install and play the game earlier before the open beta? If so that would be pretty effective proof that there is something going on with the install client they released. Honestly I've never encountered this much of a headache just trying to get a game installed.

Yeah I was in the CB earlier than my housemate and later he got in and we were playing together.

Yeah then it has to be a quirk in their installer client now rather than a problem on our end especially if he was able to play it earlier and did not get stuck on the "checking" phase. Too many people are having this same issue. I would like to at least hear that a solution is being researched.
Well still no progress with the install. I checked the client.txt again and items seem to be repeating themselves now. The same things being "queued" over and over again as the hours tick by indicating that no forward progress is being made.

In the absence of any other solutions or an official statement that it's a known bug with the installer client (which seems appropriate given how many windows 7 64 bit users have posted about this issue) I think I'll throw in the towel on this game.

To those lucky enough to install it glhf! :)

This heppened to me on Diablo3 and it's an easy fix.

for me there is a hidden folder (edit: Win7) in documents/cant recall folder names ... something like my games or games...

go to folder options and click show hidden folders ... then delete the folder with POE data and retry the install.exe

this should fix most ppl's problems

hope i helped

Try what evanpoe said.

Also when did you download the installer? I'm assuming just recently? Try re-dloading the game installer then re-running the install if "checking the resources" still seems like its taking awhile could you check your Task Mgmr and check your performance to make sure your CPU isn't overclocking from the program installing.

Do you have any other programs that are running that could hinder your installation? I know you said your Virus scanner and Windows firewall are turned off but there could possibly be a malicious program that is preventing you from installing. Other than that is there any other logs you could show us?

If all else fails hopefully a MOD could help you, and if that fails...A full re-format might seem to be in order that is of course if you're willing to go to that extent.

Hopefully you get some help!
Tried every fix on this thread. Nothing.

I even went to thepiratebay and downloaded the installation folder (5gigs) and when I run the client, I'm still stuck at Checking Resources. I tried running the original install.exe and selected Repair, then back to Client, and still Checking Resources.

Frankly, I'm about done.

I get it; it's a free to play Beta - but if this is the grief INSTALLING the game gives me, it's likely just going to be a frustrating waste of my time trying to play.

Bit of a shame.

Evanope's suggestion did not work for me. I did find that folder and delted it but the install still hung up on checking resources.

For the hell of it I just downloaded the most recent installer today (1/28/13) hoping for something to be different.

The patch notes screen pops up when I start the installer (says version 0.10.0d). Once again it is "checking resources" for around 10 minutes now as of me typing this with no signs of forward progress just like last time I tried. I'll let it run for a couple hours just to make sure it's not a time thing as has been previously suggested.

To recap... I have disabled windows firewall, kaspersky antivirus, and made sure nothing else is running in the background. Essentially my computer has no security whatsoever right now. The computer is clean. Previous full scans with kaspersky and malwarebytes (both disabled now) have come up totally clean which is not a surprise.

Previous installs have been completely uninstalled and hidden install folders deleted. Even ran CCleaner. So this latest install is as fresh as I can get it.

To restate what I have previously tried I'm installing into a hard drive with 100's of GB of free space. It is formatted NTFS so it can handle file sizes >4gb. I have executed the installer "As Administrator" and have attempted it most recently in "Windows Compatibility XP SP2 mode" (though I have also attempted this install normally and in SP3 XP modes).

So far everything fails.

My computers specs can be seen in the original post. As you can see everything is above and beyond what is required.

It has been suggested that Time Warner (my ISP) may be the problem. Can't be 100% sure if that is correct or not as many other people have that ISP with no problems so far. My current internet connect is very fast very stable and wired (so no router to bypass) no other firewall is operational at this time. Furthermore I have had no issues installing (or server patching) other recent games on this system such as D3, WoW, Planetside 2 etc.

It has been suggested that their current installer doesn't work well with some customers Windows 7 64bit OS (32 bit people seem to not be having this issue). I'm actually more inclined to go with this theory and wait for them to (hopefully) fix it or a viable work around to be posted.

CPU usage is low at the time of installation around 10% of my quadcore i7 processor. around 28% of my 4gb RAM is in use. Task manager says nothing else is running that doesn't need to be. SO nothing is "hogging" resources or causing an overclock right now.

As for formatting my computer... I understand what you are saying there but I don't think that's reasonable in this situation annnd there are signs telling me that it might not even work if I did all that which would seriously piss me off. I would give it some serious thought if A.) My computer was having issues with other games or anything at all which it is not. Very healthy system right now. B.) This game's installer wasn't in beta and just weird in general in my opinion (don't think I've ever seen an installer "check resources" in this fashion befoire) plus it isn't connecting me to a torrent as most installers do today in order to get the game downloaded. C.) If you do a search of the support forum "stuck at checking resources" seems to be a pretty common issue with people and though some people might be doing something wrong I do think that those things indicate that the problem is probably with their installer client and not on my end. I did put in a lot of work already trying to get this thing to install.

As for a mod helping me out I doubt it. One did pop in earlier and suggested I turn off windows firewall and antivirus (which I had already done before he suggested that). So my hopes are pretty limited. Think I might just need to wait a month or so for these bugs to get ironed out. I do hope that someone on the team has at least brought the installer issues to their attention.
